Money help: I have multiple fully documented disabilities, can not work and am waiting for social security to make their determination. - Help.com

I have multiple fully documented disabilities, can not work and am waiting for social security to make their determination.

Even though my wife works, we are so broke that we are almost on the street. There is no one left in our families who can help while we wait; they have already given their all. We desperately need money. Any ideas???

Good luck with that one!

I am terminal and have several chronic illnesses and I have been fighting disability for three years ~smiles~. My family income was cut in half, but we have adjusted and live more on a beer budget instead of champagne ~grins~.

My doctor has never signed anyone off for disability in his 25 years as a doctor! Ahole! So I had to get a lawyer after my reconsideration was denied! The good thing is if and when I get it I’ll be getting about $21,000.00 from backpay ~smiles~.

Disability pisses me off because if you work at all you have to start all over, but as soon as you get disability your allowed to work and make $800/month ~sighs~. @#$@#$ing morons! ~smiles~

I hope you can find someone to help you out in the meantime. I know how rough it is friend ~sighs~

I have MS and am a single mom, I have been on scoial security for years. I feel for you as a family. I know from other people that if I were married there is no
way social security would have helped me. On the other hand though, it is great that you have each other. There is always a bright side, right?? : )

Where do you live? Have you checked into HUD housing. If you are going to be disabled for the long term it will keep you and your family from being on the streets. I wish I could help you more. I really do understand how you feel.

I’m a single mom of 3 kids, one has multiple disabilities. It is sooo hard if i work they take money and if i dont work i have to survive on barely anything. But their are things you can do while you wait. I don’t know how to get money while you wait, but if you go to housing authority you can live for free somewhere so it will be a little easier until you get approved. There is also a program called ddsd im not sure exactly what all they can help with, but you might have to have ssi to be able to even get that. It’s worth checking into. But good luck, i know it’s hard!
