Is it possible to give / receive help if there is “no problem”?
Or must every instance of helping someone have to include some “problematic” issue?
I recently heard the idea that some people recognize 3 kinds of questions:
1. “navigational” — like: “where are my glasses?” “what time is it?” and/or “how do I find help.com?”
2. “informational” — like: “What is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?”
3. “transactional” — like: “Would you be my friend?” and/or “Buy a song”
So far, I have noticed that the vast majority of posts here are of the “I want X” and/or “How do I X” type. Very few people post “I want to help Z by doing Y” (or something like that). Is there some reason why most posts start with questions (needs) rather than “offers”?
It seems to me it would be very useful if there were a way to match offers with requests — I guess the software attempts to do that… — how can we “humans” help? What are the software’s limits? …?
