A table is 6 feet long and 4 feet wide.

A table cloth covers the entire table and there is 1 foot of extra cloth hanging over each edge of the table. What is the area of the table cloth?

Okay, so the length of the table is six feet long, and the width is four feet. If there is a foot on each side hanging over, that means there is two extra feet on both the length and width (one foot to hang on the left, one to hang on the right).

So the perimeter of the table cloth should be eight feet by six feet. You can figure out the rest, right? A=lw
