house help: who is right? - Help.com

who is right?

the closing on my house was set at 10:00am April 9. The buyer said he didn’t want the house because he didn’t get a walk through Easter Sunday. I said fine I’ll relist the house since I didn’t get a good price anyway. The next day the realtor calls my therapist and says he and the buyer will sue me for everything I am worth if I don’t sell it to the buyer Mr. B. My therapist said to sell because I just went through a death and didn’t need court. I said I didn’t care but she insisted so I sold to Mr. B Who’s right? Are there any legal eagles on line?

My first question would be: what did you sign?

If you had a written agreement/contract with the realtor to sell by the closing date, then you might have been in an actionable position by refusing - otherwise, it was *your* house, and you could’ve done whatever you liked with it. The case would’ve been thrown out of court in the unlikely event it ever made it there in the first place. The buyer even said he didn’t want it - so I don’t understand what the realtor’s issue was.

Your own realtor threatening to sue on behalf of a buyer…that’s also a little shady; sounds like they cut a deal with each other. It’s a moot point now, of course, but I’d have fired the realtor just for starters.
