I accidentally ate maggots!

After thawing out whole wheat spaghetti and not eating it for a several days after, I noticed 2 maggots on my hand(alive) and 2(dead) in the dish I left to soak in the sink afterwards… Will I be okay?

So apparently maggots taste like whole wheat spaghetti, since you didn’t notice them while you were eating.

I knew an old lady that swallowed a fly, perhaps she’ll die.

It’s only and old nursery rhyme. I’m sure you will be ok. BUT… if you start to see small bumps growing under the skin around your navel… a doctor can remove those eggs relatively painlessly.

Depends on if they were alive. Its called Myiasis and I only know because I have been researching it for hours now. I just fed my kids a pre packaged ham and half way through the ham we discovered a pile of eggs in it. There is no way they were laid from the oven to the table so they had to be laid somewhere during packaging. Apparently if they were alive your stomach acids wont kill them and they will live in your stomach or intestinal track. You may experience no symptoms or you may experience stomach aches, vomiting or diarrhea. There is no treatment other then letting them pass which may take up to a month. There are many problems that they may cause so i suggest you do what Im doing and research. We just ate them about 8 hours ago and I feel fine but they were eggs so they may need to hatch which can take a few days depending how long ago they were laid. So basically Im not going to sleep for a few days worrying about my kids.

The tiny maggots we are with our goulash had been cooked and boiled, so I am sure they were dead. So does that mean we’ll be ok?
