I don’t believe in god.

But if it turns out he does exist, will I go to hell?

I don’t believe in God either. But, if it turns out that he does exist, he would never judge someone for questioning. In fact, you’ll be allowed in before most Christians will be. There’s a saying God loves atheists the most because they’re the only ones who took him seriously.

If you don’t believe it’s denying him. That’s like saying “I don’t want to care about you or love you, but if it does end up that you are there, I don’t want to go to hell”. That’s just my opinion.

Denying him is not the same as saying I don’t care about you or love you. That’s like saying if you don’t support the war you hate the troops.

Just live you life. Fear nothing!

I don’t say prayers.

If god was as good as everyone makes out, I’m sure it would he/she would prefer it if if we spent our time living a good life, rather than wasting it ‘praising’ him/her, while people suffered.

And besides, what’s to say that one god is the right god. Why is the Islamic god any less important than the Christan god or the hindu god?

So, yeah, I’m not sold on the whole idea of ‘god’.

But to be called ‘ignorant’ is ignorant in itself, shhh.

Just something I would like to share with everyone. I was feeling very sad and alone because my grandma had just died of cancer and I was angry that God hadn’t let her stay with me. I thought back to the days I had used to give my grandma computer lessons and wished we could have done more. I went on the computer two weeks later, and to the TV guide site where everyday the same thing pops up - my address (In a different city). This time, my grandma’s address and city popped up. I guess the computer lessons went better than I thought.

Shhh….that was ignorant…it’s not ignorant to question. It’s ignorant to blindly follow irrational thought.

Everytime something like this happens to me, I see more and more how much he is helping me and saying “Here I am”. Once I was sitting asking God why people idolize famous people but not him. I turned on the television and and the VERY FIRST thing I said was “It’s wrong to idolize people”. It was some stupid wendy’s commercial, but I knew it wasn’t “coincidence”. Things happen for a reason. If you want signs you have to ask. It’s okay to question, and in times of hardship be angry and upset. But I hope that I have helped you in some way. :) Take care and God bless.

Ha ha, I have GOT to say this..being calle dignorant is not always an insult..If you have little or o info on a subject, it IS ignorance..does not mean you are stupid..just lacking knowledge in that area.

If you were not ignorant in this area, you would know that the Islamic and the Christan god are the same god..both religions will say so..the biggest divide between them is..the Muslims believe Muhammad was the Prophet and Christians believe Jesus was. also the Muslims believe Jesus was real, but just a lessor prophet, not the Son of God.

Funny what can offend some people.

“look at me, i am an atheist. I am so cool. I am so cutting edge. i am so anti-establishment. at the ripe age of (15, 20, 25, 30, 40..whatever) i have enough wisdom to say that a thing I cannot define or understand is not real. Wow, I feel smart and with it.”

Richard has a good point. Heaven and Hell are things right here in front of you. Jesus himself says that Heaven is not something that will come. It is already all around us. Just open your eyes to the truth of this world. I’m not a Christian however. And I have just decided that I am quite happy to understand the fact that I can never prove if God exists or not. There are however many truths in Christianity just as there are in any religion. Living by these truths creates heaven on earth… I believe. I hope this helps.

Well, if this is hell, then it’s pretty good. Looks like I’m doing alright then, not believing in god is not so bad after all.

By the way, not sure if anyone’s mentioned this, but just like Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy, god doesn’t exist.

did i say this here yet? Deciding a thing, a thing you do not even know the properties of (so you would not even know what you are looking for), is impossible is the peak of ignorance, the hight of arrogance, the plateau of hubris..

the quasi-intelligent believe that by denying the POSSIBILITY of a God, they are proving how superior they are, but all they prove is their own closed mindedness..

how can you prove or disprove a thing that you cannot even define?

see, the properties of Santa: he lives at the north pole,
he employs elves: there are no elves at the north pole, He uses a flying sleigh and flying raindeer, he visits every house, he knows when you are sleeping, and knows when you’re awake.

see, using those properties, we can either prove he exsists, or prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that he does not…Ditto the tooth fairy and Vampires and The Easter Bunny and etc etc etc.

does it only make sense to me? Rich, Xeno, somebady, anybody?

So you don’t believe in God, but you’re worried about going to hell? There is an interesting point of view a philosopher once put forward, but I forget his name now. If the doubt of God is present and one believes that one’s acts gets you into heaven, then the simple thing to do is to be good, you may lose a little excitement in this life, but you will gain so much more in the afterlife. However, if God does not exist, you have only lost a little. On the other hand, if you just walk around fulfilling your selfish desires and God really does exist, then you’re in for it. But if not, then at least you had fun while you were alive. Think about eternity vs. your earthly life.

But this is all based on whether God judges a person on their acts alone. And in my belief this is a very odd way of looking at God. But it is one opinion.

haha funny how people go out of their minds about religion. The idea of “God” creates more troubles than anything else. Everyone just fight about him.. or her or it. Everyone fight for a theory that no one can really prove. Let’s face it, none of us know the truth.. what’s in the bible or the coran or whatever was written by humans a long time ago who just like us today wondered about the origins of life and the world and were desperate to find answers. Maybe they were right, maybe they weren’t. They were just people with thoughts and views. Everyone’s view is equally credible in my opinion as we all have that same thinking ability, so let’s stop speculating about hell and heaven if it’s just to prove others wrong and not even try to understand the thoughts of others.

If you believe in something, wether it’d be God as we know him in the bible or in any other way you wish, why not just focus on making this world a better place instead of trying to outsmart each other with these so-called “facts” about God. If “God” truly exists, he must be pretty disapointed with what people say in his name.

Just a though.

woah buddy, ignorance cannot excuse you from lack of faith. i too used to question the belief in God. i was alone, and a drug abuser at the unpleasantly young age of 16. my life was going nowhere and anyone around me could see that. i needed something more, something that wasn’t taught to me in church. religions cannot teach faith. faith must come from within. instead of searching for God, broaden your search and look for truth. believe me, anyway you look at it, searching for truth can only lead you to God. if you tried to find truth without God, or God without any truth, then you wouldnt have anything, just a mess that wouldnt add up. Find Truth and Unconditional Love and you’ll have your answer :)

1 Timothy 4:10

I have talked with a few other Christians that have interesting beliefs about how no one will stay in hell eternally and/or because the saints will judge others, everyone will be found innocent out of love and the inability to condemn someone who is just like them.

One person pointed out that in the New Testament, Jesus went to Hell and freed those who were captive there. They related it to Revelations and how everyone is released from Hell before Hell is destroyed for eternity. It really does sound to me as if Hell is not eternal.

I was also talking with a friend and we were talking about how people in the Old Testament didn’t know all of what God had in store for them with the coming of Christ. We took that and compared it to us today and how we can not know all of what God has in store for us today. We look through a glass darkly and our hindsight is better then foresight.

I also have to whole-heartedly agree with this statement:

scubajon8 wrote:

Although I believe in the Bible, I personally don’t know what God has in store for all of mankind. Who can know the mind of God? Therefore, I follow the two laws given to me by Christ, love God, my creator and love others (not just fellows believers) as I do myself.

Although, I can not judge other people, if I was ever put into a position to do so, I could never condemn someone else, because if I love others as I do myself, then how could I ever condemn myself?

My goal of loving others is not to convert them to my beliefs, try to prove there is a God and give them a faith, or condemn them and give the impression I am somehow better then they. In love I try to serve others in kindness and with a glad heart knowing that God knows how much I truely do love my fellow man (not just fellow believers). I trust in my God, and I pray for all of mankind, not just those I know. I truely hope that Love will win over all.

I am pretty positive that if you did not believe in God, yes you would go to hell. Not believing in God is denying God. Now if you where a child and never had the chance to learn or here about then God, then No, you would not go to hell. All God wants is for you to believe in him and have faith that he exists. If you do this unconditionally, you will go to heaven.

Well,Cj why dont you find christanity and explore it. Lets see, you dont believe in God, then why are there saints ? Arent they a sign that there is some presence? That there is someone stronger and more powerful? ….how about the miracles? Since you dont believe in god how would explain a person who was sick from cancer , suddenly cured with a perfect health ? ( and yes things like that happen ).
Dont you ever think of the creations.. the accuracy? How does water have such a high freezing and boiling point.. How is it so accurate that sea creatures can stay alive in water. How us humans that have water dont dehydrate ….
its just a thought ….

How are saints a sign that god exists? They’re just a sign that people follow a religion that involves saints. There tends to be reasons for people amazingly beating cancer too, it doesn’t just ‘happen’ and usually thats down to doctors and other medicinal things. Sea creatures stay alive in water because they’ve adapted to, the ones that didn’t adapt are dead. That’s why it seems so perfect…

But you’re right at the end. Humans that have water don’t dehydrate.

Beliefs are for the ignorant, ideas are for philosophers, and faith is for the needy. Don’t listen to what anyone says, trust yourself. God is a concept that certain people THINK they grasp. There is nothing else unless you want there to be. If you don’t believe in God, who cares? because there is no one there to judge you (except the brainwashed zombies- good quote cj)
