I have been out of work for over two years due to a prolonged personal problem.

I’m tired of being idle, and want to have a career and make a comfortable living. I need to earn a degree from college, but the whole public speaking aspect scares the hell out of me.. What should I do?

Not all careers require skills in public speaking. There for not all college curricula have classes in public speaking or require it for other classes. During my undergraduate program (Engineering) I think I had to give a total of 4 predications to the class over 4 years (1 a year). I don’t like public speaking either, but one a year won’t kill you.

In my graduate school program (MBA) there where a few more presentations but that is to be expected based on the curricula.

Just find something to do that does not involve public speaking and you wont have to do much of it in college.

confront your fear and get learning, you’ll get confident once you start and any public speaking will about the specific field you are studying and you’ll know what you’re talking about.
