Computer problem,

Hello I’m Keith 54yo from County Durham, north east england & i have a problem, my home pc has a partitioned drive with windows XP on 1 drive & windows vista on the other, when starting up i get a screen asking which operating system i want to start in, then after 20 seconds if i don’t choose it starts vista, (which i am on now).
However 2 days ago when i chose XP it tried to start then came up with this message, “The application or DLL C:\windows\system32\imm32dll is not a valid windows image. please check this against your installation diskette.”
Does anyone know if this can be repaired, maybe through my vista system by altering the damaged registry, or will i have to reinstall xp then vista again to get back to where i was.
The reason i still use XP is that several programs i have wont work with vista so i revert back to use them.
,
I.e bluetooth, nero, evidence eliminator.
thanks for reading this.
Keith

Windows XP setup has a repair option. Just boot off the CD and choose to install over the old XP but when it asks what you want to do (format the partition, etc), there’s an option to repair it (it will say press “R” to repair). Be careful not to overwrite your old system!

Thanks again, i think u are right about it not being a boot sector problem.
None of this would be a problem if bill gates didn’t sell dodgy not fully working operating systems.

Vista is horrible. I’m geek, trust me. It requires a truckload of RAM, an amazing graphics card, it’s too user-friendly (I know what I’m talking about) and believe me, unless you have a fantastic computer, it’s bad.
