Very important year coming up politically for our country!
Certainly not going to use this wonderful site to endorse or praise a candidate. Certainly not the intent of the site, but my message to you, is too get involved and do your homework this coming year. With the Iraq War, corruptions running rampant, etc., we need to be on our toes and make an intelligent informed decision on the candidate that will make this country what it need to be…Above all, we want to elect HONEST people that will represent the people, not special interest groups.
Have a great day!

So far Qzzz I don’t see ANY candidates that meet those qualifications. :(
Touche my friend…my sentiments exactly..I’m an independent looking for a good man or woman…
Jeb, you would make a good one…
Qzzzz, I’ll be putting my syndical hat on here so forgive me.
Why has your generation allowed corruption to run so rampant? If there is something wrong with the Iraq war then it’s just an extension of that corruption, so I’ll leave it be. So again why is it that a generation so hell bent of changing the system and making this world a better place to live has got it so wrong?
I ask this question because as a jaded member of the generation your’s has berthed I can’t seem to rally the passion within myself to want to create change. Now I am very interested in politics, I find it entertaining, and so by default I will be making intelligent decisions when it comes time for me to vote. But my decisions wont be about creating change, they will be about what I feel benefits me personal and my family the most, if that’s a candidate that runes everyone else life, so be it. I can certainly understand why people, who do not find politics as entertaining as my self, wont even show up to vote.
I have this audited because I don’t think there is anything I can do to create change. Now I don’t make this statement out of ignorance of the system or a feeling of smallness, but out of loneliness. I just don’t think there are enough people who want things to change and so I look at the world and model it the best way I can to suit my self. Most of the time that means learning how to integrate the ill intentions of people into my life so that I gain a benefit form it or at lest mitigate a risk.
Going back to your generation and how it fits into this whole thing, it’s just a model of my world on this issue. You had a vast group of people who all wanted change and to a point you where all moving in the right direction, but then for some reason you never got there and in fact were you got is were we are now. If you couldn’t do it with the human recourses you had at the time, there’s no chance for it now.
Every election I seek for a decent candidate and end up choosing the “lessor” of evils! Problem: No one measures up. No one can fix us. We are corrupt individually and that reflects itself corporally in our nation. Thankfully, my hopes and dreams are not pinned on the prosperity of the USA….. although I want the best for my country, I am under no illusion that my country is the source of my security and well being.
Well, it is not only my generation, but, being only one person myself, just try to do the right thing with my vote. I’m going to do what is best for our country. If you vote based on helping you, that could happen and it might not happen…
Well, I’m not American and all, but I’m gonna come straight out and say that I like that Obama guy. He seems smart. A smart president is REALLY what you guys need after the last bunch of *bliips*… lol

I don’t think you can blame just one generation for the corruption in this government or any other.
As American’s we like to sit back and enjoy our simple freedoms, (we do not like to like to get up to change the channel on the tv)so why would we participate any further than that? We take our liberties for granted, and we love to complain when some dumbas* (and they are all the same) gets voted into office. If you want to change the way things work you have to be more involved, but in all honesty no matter how earnest you are, power changes people, it is human nature. So we can all get off the sofa and head to Washington to take over the government or we can sit on the sofa and hope we vote for the least corrupt guy/gal on the ballot.
-the opinion of one political cynic….
I agree with you screaminglywonderful, the only way I see real change happening is through some type of revolution, where we all head to Washington to take over the government.
The system itself has become too corrupt, and corruption has become institutionalized. In such a system even if a good (Wo)man enters they will not have enough power to exact change and there will not enough good men and women at any one time for have enough power to take on the corruption. The result is that these good people turn to corruption them selves out of a belief that there is nothing they can do, or they are eaten up by the system.
As an Engineer, I would say this is like most systems in the world. At first they run efficiently but over time they degrade as more and more flaws are found and exploited. It eventually gets to the point where the system can not be fixed and must be subsisted for a new and better one.
A good non-political system to look at in this regard is the current banking system. The Federal Reserve acts of the early part of the last century where put into place as a set of checks and balances on the banks; in short only a set amount of risk was allowed to be taken on by the bank which kept the system stable. Since less risk equals fewer profits the smart people at the banks began to find loopholes in the Reserve acts, to take on more risk those increasing their profits. Now they don’t break the laws, they only bend them, but the result has been a banking system with very little control. Ultimately we get what we have today, where credit has already seized and is now only limping along. But that is only on the surface, if the average person knew what was happening with their savings they would run to the bank and put their money under the mattress, at the very least they would be very angrier. But they don’t know what’s happening, and those who do know what’s happening continue the corruption because they either benefit form it (The banks) or they don’t know how they could ever fix it with out a 1930’s style plunge. The corruption has been institutionalized due to the Federal Reserve acts which where very good things when they came out but are no longer adequate. So what we get is a bale out, most average people think this is about housing and so judge their support or lack there of on that issue. What the bale out really is for is to keep the banks solvent by throwing another layer of crap into the mix hoping that it buy enough time for the banks to right themselves. It may even work, this time. Next time the layers of crap might be to much to hold up and 1930’s here we come.
…go to Washington and take over…that is too stong for me..sure, there are some bad decisions made..and some bad politicians..but, you must remember there 545 members up there…and we have heard bad things about a couple of dozen in this administration…oh, it is not a perfect country, but by far, the best place on Earth to live….
We just need to make better informed decisions on who we vote for…and even then, there will be some bad ones in the barrel…just need to limit the numbers!

I dont agree Qzzzz,
This administration is hardily any different then the last administration, and this congress is hardily any different then the last. Making good decisions aren’t going to change this trend, because the decisions them self are loaded. No matter which one you make it’s a bad one. The best you can do is make one that best suits your needs.
All 545 members in congress need to be changed simultaneously before anything good will happen. There is just to much dead weight holding the system down. Changing but a few of them wont do anything.
WE can do it with our vote my friend…this is still a great place to live…have a great day!
I agree this is a great place to live.
