I am no expert, but one thing thought that pops into my mind is how sometimes its OK and in fact necessary to not always have that feeling of “closeness” all of the time. The “feeling of closeness” in a relationship is wonderful to have and enjoy but another beauty in strong relationships is the unconditional regard one has for someone else no matter how one feels. Feelings are super strong and sometimes seem to run the course of relationships, but it doesn’t have to be the most important part of a relationship to constantly stive at keeping or maintaining all of the time. Strive and desire for closeness, but don’t worry either…because sometimes the best of things come when one doesn’t feel super close over a far distance, but when one simply knows, he or she is cared for no matter what.

So sorry! I definitely didn’t directly answer your question but instead just shared my thoughts on your question!
I think one way someone can feel close to someone far a way is by taking time to really remember all of the wonderful things about that individual far a way. Taking time out of one’s busy schedule to think and remember and enjoy all of the memories or times with that person can definitely make you feel close to them a gain! :)
