The mulakanadu sect is said to have been originated from Nizam State. Mulki means a persons belonging to NIZAM State.Mulakanadu Brahmins surname is normally relates a place in erstwhile Nizam State. Eg. Aler, chityala, Panyam (Originally in Nizam State but ceded to British). The Brahmins left Nizam State fearing conversion.

Suppose I write Mulakanadu as Mula - Kanadu. Then I write Kanadu as Karadu. Then Mulakanadu will become Mula-Karadu.Can we thus surmise that the present Mulakanadu is Mula(root) Karadu or say Karade. There exists a Mahrati Bhramin group called Karhade who are Yajurvedis and Smartas. So may be Mulakanadu are originally Karadhe bhramins from Maharastra?Karadhes exist in Paithan which is the old Pratisthana.Well maybe that’ s why Mulakanadu could be mula (root or originally) Karadhes from Paithan in Maharastra! But will Bal Thakarey accept present Mulakanadu as old Maharastrians?!
Anand
PS I am also a Mulakanadu.
