Coffee makes me tired!

I can drink a whole pot of espresso and still sleep after words. I had coffee this morning and I have been tired all day, when I don’t drink coffee I’m just find. Its very weird – happen to know why this is?

Well, I’m guessing your body doesn’t react to caffiene anymore, if you’re drinking that much.
Try laying off the coffee, ro switching to decaf for about a month and then going back on the read stuff.

No, I wasn’t clear , I don’t drink Coffee all that much at all. At the most I will have two or there cups of coffee a month. As for the pot of espresso, that was a one time event (well it happened twice)

Coffee has never stimulated me, and so I have never gotten into drinking it.

i am sensitive to coffee in this way: to me it is like a drug, to which i develop an immunity. i find that sometimes when i simply change brands for a while, the coffee buzz returns for a few weeks. then when i fail to achieve the buzz i switch brands again, or switch to highly caffeinated tea or energy drinks. however, sometimes if i ingest caffeine every day and then don’t have it one day i develop severe withdrawl sypmtoms like headaches, irritability,…so my guess is, you may somehow have temporarily or permanently become “immune” to caffeine.

Hm. Well, I don’t know it would make you feel that way, but if it does, don’t drink it. lol. I’m like that with Nyquil. It doesn’t make me tired, it gives me the jitters and leaves me awake for days.

Some people have opposite reactions to caffine then most people. I used to drink diet coke before bed and it put me to sleep.

Are you have ADD or ADHA? Caffine puts those people out. It has something to do with the way they respond to dopamines.

I have the exact same problem. Either you have a very fast metabolism, or else your tolerance for caffeine is higher than most. Either way, what’s happening is you’re burning through the caffeine faster than you can feel it, leaving you with nothing more than the crash after the rush.

IF you were hooked on another drug, this is about when you’d be jonesing for a bigger dose and visiting the land of O.D.

Most suggestions involve slowly weening yourself off caffeine so that it will effect you as normal. Other than that, there’s not a whole lot of (healthy) choices left to you.

maybe the amount of energy in the coffee isn’t nearly as enough as your body demands. (Need more sleep or food).

Some people get paradoxical effects from stimulants; you are probably one of them.

This can definitely be a symptom of withdrawal from caffeine and or tolerance. That is sometimes typical with many types of stimulants. The withdrawal can depend on how chronic you have been using as well. Other withdrawal symptoms can include fatigue, anxiety and headaches.

Have you tried coffee without sugar? It may have more to do with it then the coffee alone.

I get incredibly tired after having coffee with even 1 or more teaspoons of sugar. While coffee has been shown to sustain health and fight against certain diseases, sugar however degrades you, diabetes can be the end result. I used to work with a diabetic, and he always wanted coffee with no sugar, now I know why.

Cut down on the sugar, not the coffee.

I am an adult add (not hyper-active) I love coffee but it makes me tired the more I drink. I am scared to stop cuz of headaches that occur with withdrawal. Also 2 or 3 diet pepsis a day. Energy drinks like red bull also have no effect or make me sleepy. Am I crazy ?

Becauses caffine dehydrates you. Drink a couple glasses of water to wake up again.

I believe that one, you’re dehydrated….so yes, as Tollen said, drink more water. Caffeine continues to deplete your body of water for a FULL 24 hours or even more. I always chase a cup of coffee with 1-2 glasses of water immediately after.

Also, Caffeine depletes B vitamins which can leave you drained especially during stressful times. Take a B complex if you plan on drinking coffee.

Another thing it can be is your blood sugar. Your bood sugar spikes during coffee intake only to PLUMMET a few minutes later, especially if you are also the type to get really lightheaded or dizzy if you haven’t eaten for a long period of time. I thought it was my blood sugar, so I took a bit of fruit juice mixed with a bit of water after that really tired feeling (throw out the rest of the cup of coffee…not worth the fatigue) and I felt much better.

It has to do with the sugar in your blood!
I suggest you the following experiment. Google the Glycemic Index - eat only foods that have a low glycemic index and that take a longer time to digest.
Excercise.
DON’T EAT or DRINK ANYTHING THAT has Sugar in it.

See how you feel afterwards.

EXPLANATION: Caffeine spikes the sugar in your blood to 100. If your diet is rich in simple sugars and high Glycemic Index foods, caffeine will spike up the sugar in your blood causing your liver to work harder and therefore making you feel more tired.

If staying of the sugar makes you feel alive and full of energy, check with a doctor or at least google Hyperglicemia and Hypoglicemia.

Hope this information is good for you

Love, Take care now :)

Stefan
