it should be a ten digit number.
3 digits area code, 7 digit number.
If you only have the 7 digit number, what province are they in? I might know what it could be…
It still will not work for me. I am living in Australia and am trying to send an sms to my parents. To send one to my friend in Singapore I have to use 0011 + 65 (Singapore Country Code) + mobile number. When sending to Huntsville, Ontario I try 0011 + 1 (Canada) + 705 (Ontario) + mobile number (7 digits) but it doesn’t work. If you have any ideas please help. Thank you.
ya hey im trying to send a txt to a friend in canada aswell, but not sure how. i live in australia. and my friend lives in ontario. i need help.
OK Listen up. i just txted Canada from Australia after reading this page..
0011 + 1 + 10 digit mobile number
That’s all. Outgoing international (0011) + Country Code (1) + 10 digit mobile #.
No area/city codes for mobiles, just like here.
I’m also trying to send an SMS to Canada from Australia and it won’t go through. We’ve made sure that my friend in Canada can (and has) reciecved sms from Australia, so I think it must be that the number I have is wrong? If the Canadian number is xxx-xxx-xxxx (10 digits), and my friend lives in British Columbia, what do I type into my mobile in the “To” box of the SMS?
ok i tryed to send a text to canada but it dont work i tryed 0011+1+Number with and without the + didnt work what am i doing wrong
I am in Toronto and can send sms messages to my friends in Australia, but they can’t reply. When I text my parents when I was in Sydney all I had to do was 0011 1 area code and number.
When I check online, it says if you are trying to text Toronto, you have to enter 0011 1 9 Area code and number…is this new or something?
If you are north of Toronto like Orillia all you have to dial is 0011 1 705 (which is the area code and then the number.
Does anyone have advice here? Not sure what’s going on.
I’m here in Australia, texting my boyfriend who is on holidays in Vancouver. I tried all your suggestions and none of them worked. Best bet is to just REPLY to the messages they send you. Otherwise it’s +1 (country code) then 604 (area code) and then their 7 digit mobile number.
For example: if his 7 digit number was 1234567, then I would send a message to “+16041234567″
Hope this works for you guys too! =]
I guys. I need to send a text message to Canada, Ontario from South Africa. Can anyone help??? Thanks guys!!
I have had success sending text messages from Australia to Canada and other countries by using the +country code syntax.
For instance to send a text to my girlfriend in Toronto, send text to:
where +1 is the country code here. Also worked when I used other country codes in the same way, with the + symbol at the start and did not use any of the 0011 prefix.
+1 then the 10 digit number that what it is…
LOL.. here it is for you. Australia to Canada
011 1 (3 digit area code) (3 digit prefix) (4 digit number)
For instance 0111306882xxxx
(xxxx) - the last 4 digits of our phone numbers. All of Canada and the US, have seven digit phone numbers locally, 1+3 digit area code in front for long distance, and 011 in front of the works for overseas.
to find a specfic area code for your first three numbers, look up canadian area codes on google. For larger metro areas there’s several in one place, but other provinces, like Saskatchewan and Alberta, have very few. Saskatchewan, for example, the entire province is 306, Alberta, slightly larger has 2. 403 for most of the south, and 780 for the north.
Our local numbers are 882-xxxx
To dial us long distance, you dial 1306882xxxx
to dial long distance from overseas, it’s 011 THEN 1306882xxxx
It is the same with cell phones in most of Canada and the USA.
All you need to do is +1 before the area code and number. Easy. You do not need the 0011 for sms. That is for voice calls.
all i know is i have tryed so many differnt ways all sugestions on here and none have worked with sending txts’s ive sent txt’s from other countrys from my phone and they all worked fine but just cant txt canada from australia.
calling is fine simple 0011 1 (3-digit area code) then (7-digit number)
and that works fine but just not txt’s
What About England to Canada ?
I just called my friend in Alberta and all I needed to do was +1(780) and then her number. I live in Australia!
I still can’t seem to text my friend in Vancouver from Australia!
I have used the full 0011 1 (604) then 7 digit number to voice call but can’t seem to figure out how to text!
what if you just place a 1 in front of the number? does that work? I tried sending a text to a friend in australia but simply placed a 1 in front…..i didn’t receive an error report but i am not sure if i did it right
sweden 2 canada? its really important 2 get an answer
what about australia to netherland any1 know how plz.
This should not be difficult. You are all over thinking it.
Think of it as 2 different areas. US/Canada and Everyone else
Oh by the way putting the + symbol at the front of the number is the same as the international dial number. You can put 0011 if you like, but using the + just means you don’t need to change your numbers when overseas, your phone knows to call that countries international dial number not everyone uses 0011.
Before you read on… the simple method is get them to txt you and save the number in your address book.
if I am calling an Australian number lets say 0411 123 456 from overseas its…
+61 (country code)
411123456 (the mobile number less the 0 at the front)
Its pretty similar for most overseas countries… just make sure you drop the 0 from the front of the mobile number.
Most countries its
+(country code)(mobile number without the zero)
For the US and Canada its
+(country code)(state/local area code)(mobile number no zero at the front)
so if I was calling Las Vegas Nevada in the US it would be
+1 (country code)
702 (local area code)
1234567 (mobile number 7 digits no zero at the front)
note… I don’t think they use the zero at the front of US/Canadian mobiles, they dial them as though they are land line numbers.
I hope this helps and hasn’t confused people more lol

You have a broad area, however, you will discover much more from the remaining portion of the telephone number. The area code is the very first 3 numbers of the 10 digit phone number. You must take a look to the following 3 figures that are known as the prefix. These can advise you the name of a smaller sized city, or have been in use in a far more metropolitan part. You need to research the prefix inside the area code 503, because prefixes tend to be used again in each and every area code. You will discover that the phone call may come from anyplace in the area code, clearly, however there are several bigger locations which are the more than likely sources.
Although there are lots of locations and sources which you can use to discover more on phone calls from your area prefix 503, you’ll find all you need in a few places. You will find excellent internet sites which can help you out if you need to learn more of a telephone number, however a name might not be required.
