Eviction
In the past month my life has gone completely down hill. Today I received an eviction notice and I owe almost $2000 in back rent. Help! What are some resources? Any advice?

since no one else seems to realize that $2000 debt and eviction are serious problems, I’d suggest checking with local nonprofits. If you live in an urban area, there will definitely be programs that are easy to find that will help you sort out your debts. For the eviction, I’d suggest contacting your local tenant-housing court about what you should do, if you haven’t paid rent, you may just have to move. but don’t get discouraged, there are very nice shelters if you don’t have any family or friends close by.
as for the nonprofits, check out the city government services. also look for free financial counseling, there are several nonprofits that will help you with free credit counseling, neighborhood housing services, as well as ACORN, as two examples. you obviously have internet access, these problems are solvable, just don’t be afraid to ASK FOR HELP!

haha sorry
ACORN is a membership organization for low-mod income families, but they have this program ACORN housing who are loan counselors, they work for free and in large cities, where there is an ACORN Housing office, they do free credit counseling and help people get their debt together. Also, if you’re being wrongfully evicted, if your landlord’s a slumlord, they’ll stick up for you, if you’re a member. But I know they aren’t the only ones, so if you don’t have an office close by, try searching the local city services as well as [nonprofit + your hometown] in google. look around, financial counseling, free credit help, are also good key terms, but watch out for scams. if the website doesn’t say it’s 501c3 or nonprofit, back away.
If you plan to pay back the money , you can ask for a loan at Prosper. People may help you. More information at http://www.acreditlibrary.com/prosper…
You can also try your luck at online charities, people may send donations. More information at http://www.laodn.org/

Apparently, I don’t have high enough credit to apply on Prosper.
You really think people would donate?? Up to $2000 by November 7????
Thanks for your two cents….

Just know that you are not alone out here, There’s nothing I can do or say right now, because I’m in even worse shape and still working on a solution myself … Some times you just want to scream. Sorry. Stay in touch, okay?
