Here is a second text I tried to translate from french to english.

I’d like english spoken people advice on it to correct mistakes. this is not homework (I am 41…) but help I give to my wife which is worse than me in this langage (yes it is possible..)

Data bases and files of the SDIS: better knowledge about the risks to better forecast and prevention.

Civil safety organization in France, mainly rests on firemen units who cover territorry in a hightly tight grid with at least one rescue center in each canton. To effectively lead the missions which theirs are assigned by the laws and payments, departmental Services of fire and help (SDIS) have many information to face risk of any kind they can encounter. In the same way, because they are in the middle of action, rescue centers are an important information source about potential risks in their sectors. But this information may be quite scatered. Within the conference “which files today for better risk prevention tomorrow” it appeared useful to specify the the SDIS current organization, their domain of competences, and to bring some details about what are the various “files” which can be of interest for researchers, especially about natural risks.

L’organisation de la sécurité civile en France, repose en majorité sur les unités de sapeurs pompiers qui assurent, avec au minimum un centre de secours par canton, un maillage extrêmement serré du territoire. Pour conduire efficacement les missions qui leurs sont imparties par les lois et règlements, les Services départementaux d’incendie et de secours (SDIS) disposent d’une multitude d’informations permettant d’appréhender les risques de toute nature auxquels ils peuvent être confrontés. De même, parce qu’ils se situent au cœur de l’action opérationnelle, les centres de secours constituent une source importante de renseignements sur les risques potentiels de leurs secteurs de compétence. Mais ces informations peuvent être relativement dispersées. Dans le cadre du colloque « quelles archives aujourd’hui pour mieux prévenir les risques demain » il est apparu utile de préciser l’organisation actuelle des SDIS, leurs domaines de compétences, et d’apporter quelques précisions sur la nature des différentes « archives » susceptibles d’intéresser les chercheurs, particulièrement dans le domaine des risques d’origine naturelle.
