WHat are some good christian rock songs.
And i mean EXCITING, CATCHY, NON-SLOW christian rock songs. they can have screaming in them, they can have anything, just as long as they have good vocals and a good sound.

Why not just look for good songs, period?
cuz i’m looking for good christian rock songs cuz our youth band needs ideas on what songs to play.. also i like the whole rock/metal genre and i want to add them to my mp3
find food @ http://www.christianhardrock.net/
here is a good christian rock band. i like a lot of there songs so maybe you will to. there name is “skillet”
It’s NOT an oxymoron.
Here are some bands you should check out (try looking for their myspace page or on youtube to listen to some of their songs):
Pillar
Sanctus Real
The Afters
Kutless
Skillet
Fireflight
Falling Up
Thousand Foot Krutch
Check out this link: http://www.last.fm/music/Fireflight/+…
They are artists similar to Fireflight. If you want to search for artists similar to another band, say Skillet, just search for the band’s main page and then click the “Similar” tab - 4th from the right.
No, see, she asked for GOOD music, but there isn’t any GOOD Christian music. There just isn’t. There’s okay music, and tollerable music, but nothing GOOD. Good is like… the Beatles, the Doors, Elvis, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, or AC/DC. There is a deffinition of good music, and Christian music just doesn’t fit it.
Just because YOU don’t consider it GOOD music doesn’t mean that EVERYONE agrees with you, nor does it make it the truth. There IS GOOD christian music, and just because it isn’t played as much or isn’t as popular as those bands you mentioned doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
No no no, I know there’s opinion involved. But you have to look at the greats in history. Have ANY of them been a Christian band?
You are right. And you have to listen to christian radio stations to hear the greats in christian music….there’s 2 different types of music, christian and secular, and within those you have all the different genres. In the secular music of course there isn’t going to be christian bands…at least not in the past…lots of christian bands are being played on secular music stations and becoming very popular nowadays though, and someday this will be the past. You have to look into the christain music history to find those greats. And they are there.
It’s much more then a genre b/w secular and christian music.
Have you ever listend to christian music stations?
Unfortunately. I’ve been on road trips through the Bible Belt. That’s all they play. The lyrics are pathetic, the music isn’t played well, the singers leave a lot to be desired, and all that leaves is the message, which you get by going to chuch anyway.
The lyrics are amazing, the music is played very well in most bands (but just like in secular music, of course not everyone is perfect), overall the quality of songs is greater then in the secular world (probably 90% of the music played is good vs. 50% on other stations). There are many amazing singers with voices that no one can match in the secular music world (just ask me to name a few), and the message is positive, encouraging, and uplifting.
And again, it’s much more just then a genre b/w secular and christian music.
You must be thinking of some new, unknown bands, because I’ve never heard anything good from that genre.
Actually, I prefer the older bands/musicians. But there are a lot of good new bands, too.
No, I’m not saying that at all. You’re free to have your opinion. But, I think it’s odd that just because I’m stating my oppinion, you jump to the conclusion that I’m trying to keep you from yours. I just don’t see how they don’t get popular if they’re so good. My opinion is that it’s because they suck.
If a band is good, it will become popular. That’s just obvious. So why aren’t there any Christian bands that are popular mainstrem?
Yes, if a band is good it will become popular.
It’s because of the differences in the message b/w christian and secular music. It’s because of the religious aspect of it. You will never find a SONG priasing Jesus in secular music, even if it’s the best song in the world. Because of the message, that IS the ONLY reason!
Take Rebecca St. James. She is one of the most popular christian female artists in christian music. And yet her songs will never be played on secular radio stations. Why? Because of her message. Because she sings about Jesus and God. That is why. It has nothing to do with the quality of her music, the quality of her voice, it has to do with her message.
And there are a couple who are popular in certain areas of music. Skillet and Amy Grant to name 2.
Well, bands like Flyleaf and Thousand Foot Krutch are played mainstream, but no one likes them, because they suck.
What do you think of this song? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJov4M…
I’ll listen to them later. I’m just checking the site before I go to work.
ok.. wow i’ve missed a lot.. but i have to say Xeno, ur being a bit bias. I’m just asking for someone who knows some good christian bands, if you don’t particularly like christian music then you really don’t have to answer.
plus christian music isn’t popular just because the “public” and the “media” follow the stereotype that christian music is boring and slow with organs..even when people hear about christianity they think of boring and judgmental people who only respect their christian friends. but if you really got to research the religion, you’ll see that its not what you thought at all, christians should be known as loving.
Hey, opinions are opinions, and everyone’s allowed to have them. And while I’m not going to argue, I could say you’re being biassed far more easily. Showing a favoritism for your own religion and all. But no worries, I really don’t have any problem with the music or the religion, I just see no value in the music’s quality.
there’s a difference between christian music and secular music, sure, but the difference isn’t in what notes are used and how those notes relate to each other.
i mean, music theory doesn’t suddenly and completely change, just because a song is “christian” instead of “secular.” musically there’s no reason to categorize them separately.
the only reason i said “good christian rock” is an oxymoron is because, muscially speaking, every single christian rock song i’ve ever heard has had the same cliched chords and modulations and whatnot.
i’m not exactly a christian rock connoisseur, tho. i like my religious music on giganto-enormous organs and big huge choirs, thank you very much.
Hey, Jet, have you ever heard of Plumb? You might like her.
Thank you for explaining, Trent. And I agree, there are a lot of songs that do sound very, very similar…espicially if you’re looking at a lot of songs from just one artist. But they’re not all the same, and I think that there are some good songs out there.
christian woman by type o negative! awesome song
I think christian musik dont make the mainstream because the industry is minipulated by dark individuals who dont want gods name praised.
Thank you Akithma.
And those bands you mentioned are 2 of my absolute favorites!
although its a completly different genre [the last trumpet]by LYRICS BORN is an awsome song
ok :)
I listened to it…not usually the type of music I listen to, but by the end of the song, I liked it, didn’t want it to end, lol. I think if I listened to it a few times I could really end up enjoying it even more. It’s the kind of song that grows on you the more you listen to it. I’ll also try listening to their other songs. Thanks!
And for anyone else who wants to hear it, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XbDBA…
It does indeed although im not a fan of the band i love the song ps have you heard lacuna coil its a bit like nightwish
Yes, I’ve heard of Lacuna Coil. They are a good band, but I don’t like all their songs. I think they have 2 that are some of my favorites, though :D
I loved their cover of Enjoy the Silence (one of my favorite songs ever). And, surprising (lol), Heaven’s A Lie.

Whoa, I forgot about this post. Sorry, Hope, I’ll now answer your questions.

Ew.

Lol. Looks like the RIAA got ‘em.

Or these?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0BRg4…
1- Ew. Kingdom Hearts is way too awesome a game to be associated with that crap.
2- Holy Lip-syncing, Batman! They started out with potential. Then the video started. Sorry, but they suck, too.
3- Hmmm. Not bad, but not good, either. If it came on the radio, I’d probably station surf for the next minute or so, and then, if nothing else was playing, I might leave it on that station until something good came on. It’s not terrible, like the others, but I’d still rather listen to something… good.
Here are some great Bands just to name a few: TFK, Flyleaf, Superchick, Akissforjersey, Blessthefall, Greeley Estates, The Afters, Esterlyn, Emery, Everyday Sunday, Family Force 5, Fireflight , Nickel Creek, Our Heart’s Hero, Pillar, Run Kid Run
xeno — why do you argue? yes, the answer is: because you can. (a side note about that would be to encourage all to thank their lucky stars … or God, if that’s what they wish to call it … that we live in a country that permits you to make your statements so freely and openly.)
you don’t like the music. that’s fine. why pick nits? it serves no purpose. it neither teaches anyone else anything nor spreads substantive information. so why do it? (those are figurative questions, not literal ones, so they don’t need to be answered here. frankly, i suspect a lot of us don’t care and would appreciate your not taking up bandwidth replying.)
it is a well worn but accurate truism that perception is reality. you have documented your perceptions and reality about the music sufficiently. now, unless you have an ill-meaning motive for being here, let the rest of us who enjoy much of the music discussed here have a pleasant conversation.
negativity is a painful, heavy burden but one makes a choice to carry it. do you?
Xeno Dragon.
It is apparent to me that you don’t have an open mind. You see you may like secular music and think that there are no good Christian songs. But thats where you are wrong.
It is based on your opinion, but hey its what you decide none of us can change your mind.
Christian songs are to worship God, and thats it, sure we may enjoy them, but I believe we have gone astray from the real reason we sing them.
Eh. Arguments. Very well, I’ll play.
Why do I argue? Because you’d have to shoot me in the head to keep me from voicing my opinion. Call it arguing when my opinion doesn’t mesh with yours, but that doesn’t change the fact that re-directing this towards me simply shows the lack of an ability to prove me wrong.
Why pick nits? I don’t know. Why are you doing it?
Perception is NOT reality. I don’t know where you got that idea. Perception is the way we THINK reality is, but reality is just what is, it doesn’t change because you think it’s something it’s not.
You think I’m negative because I don’t subscribe to your chosen reality, a reality which tells you anyone different must be a negative or otherwise bad, unhappy person. I think you’re negative because you take things too seriously.

Ah, you picked the perfect time to respond, I’ve just come back to the site.
You, my friend, are now judging me. The Bible, which you clearly hold in high esteem, prohibits this activity. Thus, you really have no ground to stand on defending the badly written musical praise or the very religion you, yourself have just disobeyed.
