(14)(4)+3 (2)(3)+1
——– + ——– =
4 2

59/4 + 7/2 =

59/4 + 14/4 =

73 / 4 = 18 1/4

yeah you need to brake down the fractions so you have the same number on the bottom, so 1/2 is 2/4

3/4 add 2/4 is 5/4 which is 1 and 1/4

add the 14 and the 3 to 1 1/4 and you get 18 and 1/4

i can see how you got to the 10/8 and thats right, you times by the opposite bottom number right?
you’ve done everything right, you just need to finish it, don’t worry about your test, you’ll do fine, looks like you understand it, just need to keep going till you get it in it’s smallest form as a fraction, ie the bottom number as small as possible, and the top number of the fraction as small as possible and not bigger than the bottom.

17 10/8 is 18 1/4

because 10/8 = 1 2/4 = 1 1/4 so add that to 17 and you get 18 1/4

17 10/8 is 18 1/4

because 8 goes into ten 1 time so it makes it 18 and you have 18 2/8 which equals 18 1/4
