Please Help!

this is my story, I recently became a single father of 4 children 2 girls and 2 boys. Im not even sure what kind of help I need, maybe just very good advice. I went from living a normal (well, almost) life with the family. I had a decent job that paid well (military) and a routine for myself, mom, and children. After my children lost their mother everything just fell apart and the only advice I was offered at the time was “it will only get worse before it gets better.” I lost my job (military seperation for hardship), my home (military housing), and to make everythin worse, while I was seperating from the military, I kept my children with their grandmother so our house was empty and it was broken into, they took everything (toys, clothes, pictures, dishes, jewlery) and what they didnt take, they destroyed. So now I had to go to my children and tell them that Mom is gone; we dont have a home; and everything that they didnt take to grammas is gone. I explained everything to my children, and there were alot of tears not only from them but I also have to admit that once they left the room I broke down into tears “cry me a river was an understatement.” My children are very humble, and I am proud of that. After a few days irealized they were saddend by the loss but were happy that we are together (-mom). My biggest heartache is not being able to spoil my children with gifts (just a bit), they are very understanding, their chistmas list was a sheet of paper with all of their names on it and it consisted of a single toy, game, or item of clothing. When I do have money to take them out they are very cautious on what and how we spend. My 10y/o didnt what a birthday party becuase “it is to expensive.” I really just want more for my children not just financially but in all areas. I do try to be the best father but being a single parent of 4 has its challenges, sometimes I find myself spending more time and effort on one child and not enough on the others or there maybe one child neglected, I also noticed that our schedules just dont exist any longer.

Can you work as a consultant—for the military?
Did you have home owners/renters insurance?

I could however I havent had any responses for my applications. And yes I did have homeowners but after the break they said I didnt get back to them in time (3 1/2 weeks looking for reciepts, pictures and whatever else I could find to prove what I lost) so they dropped my policy and said that I wasnt entitled to any reimbursement.

Government applications tend to take longer than any other. Maybe you could find some temporary work…it’s not the best work, but usually there are lots of open retail jobs this time of the year.

Somehow that doesn’t sound legal. I would check over the contract, or contact the rep in charge of your account. Usually insurance companies want to dismiss anything that they can so they don’t have to pay out anything. Since you are ex-active duty, there might be some sort of contingency on your state-side duties.
