where can a person get christmas help with food baskets and or presents for the children?

you could always go to a local church.there are two times that we have had to rely on help for christmas and we got clothing and toys for our children once from a weslean church and once from a local baptist church.then of course there is the salvation army and outreach centers.

these places also provide you and yours with a christmas feast

I need help this year for my kids christmas i have been off work due to medical issues with my daughter she been out of school for 2 months how and i have not been able to go back to work because of her beening out of school with her back.so if there are anyone out there to hely with some thanks for christmas please help me and my family this year.

I am needing help this year for Christmas also and what i have found is that Salvation Army helps with Toys for Tots, you can sign up there, also look in your yellow pages and call all the churches in there, most of the churches are looking for families for the congregation to buy for, i have received alot of help already from some WONDERFUL churches in my city. Also, if you have a public aid office if you call there they can give you alot of numbers to call for agencies that help out just withing your county….I hope this helps…….Have a very Merry Christmas

i am amom on my own have been since my 4year old was 2weeks old that is when my ex choked me &broke my nose i have been raising all of my little ones on my own 4;6;13; but the worst of it all is my 4yr is sick she has a feeding tube that she gets feed thouhg everynight so with her health & my health iam unable to work at this time &the father is to pay for us but he doesn’t i’ve taking him to court 2x’s he never showed up & the next time we are do to go will be way after chritmas i have but my name on lists but that is never a sure thing can anyone please help for the kids sake i don’t know what else to do

Take the advice from above. The churches, SCHOOLS, Community centers, local stores with angel trees. These are all good starts for a Merry Christmas for your kids. Swallow your pride, and call on these places for help, THEY WILL HELP. Asking for help is a hard thing to do, but telling your kids there is no santa is even harder.
I also have a stuggling family of 7. I am a full-time student and husband is the only one in the house to pull in an income. I will be asking for help from these places also. JUST remember the recalls on the toys that others purchase for our kids.

i have tried all of my local churches, plus the salvation army, plus all the outreach centers in my area, they are just not willing to help me with my 16 month old son, for the salvation army i do not meet the requirements, in order to get anything from the church i have to go thru the outreach center, and the outreach center will not help because my son is not in preschool. its going to be a very hard christmas this year as we had to recently move and we have so many bills that need to be paid :( it would have brightened my day on christmas morning when i got the look of pure joy on my sons face knowin that all the presents under the tree would be for him, but i cant even afford a 25 cent pack of gum, if someone knows any other places, please let me know :(

Its hard to get help, unless you go to toys for tots or what ever.Dont be proud, accept all help. I prepare for x mas way before x mas. 3 months before start gathering things that come on sale for what ever price. I find things all the time for $1.00 managers specials and such. You dont have to buy a ton of preseants. get a box and add to it each time you see something. collect non parishale foods like can food and dry boxed foods.save change, collect cans, you can do it. a dollar here and a dollar there you will have a holiday meal in no time ready.trust me, its a matter of dicipline and planning. YOU CAN DO IT.

I need help this christmas so much. My name is Mandy. I have 6 kids and an out of work fiance due to the off season of his field (HVAC/R). Our 2 oldest children (13 + 10) have mental disabilities, (ADD + Bi-polar). Our youngest (18 months) has just gone through reconstructive surgery of his airway due to prematurity (born 3 months early 1lb 5oz). We have guardianship of an 18 year old who came from a mother addicted to drugs and a dad who was more worried about himself than his family. She has been in our family since she was 15 with 2 high school credits and is due to graduate this year. Our 5 year old has just started kindergarden this year and has done so well. He has received an award for his behavior, work ethic, and grades in his 1st year of school.

These kids deserve to get more on the xmas holidays than we can provide for them at this time. We are barely able to keep gas in our 1 family vehicle to get everyone where they need to be. We don’t plan to be in this situation forever, but right now we could use some serious help to give our children the type of xmas that can be remembered when they are older. We are not asking to have them showered with gifts, but would like to be able to see them smile on xmas day rather than wonder why santa didn’t show up at their house this year.

Anyway, a great way to receive items to wrap for under the tree is to check out this website:

They have a freecycle in most every state and city. The best part about this site is that they do not allow people to ask for payment for these items. These are all items that are no longer wanted by others. The only thing it costs you is the money you pay for the gas to pick them up. :)

Freecycle also has a way to post things you no longer want as well — it helps others in case your ‘junk’ is something they might collect…or treasure. :)

Where can I go to get help for christmas, with the economy bad and with me getting custody of my two brothers and they both have problems from the abuse of our father, our mother died of cancer and she was our life.. But my one younger brother was born with a very bad heart defect, and in April of this year he was air lifted to Cardial Glennon in ****.Louis and had to have a pace maker put in, his heart is getting more problems added to it, and just recietly that his upper shabber is beating to fast and now we have to call his monitoring on a machine, and i have gotten behind on some bills, we almost lost him. I take care of a lady also and it is my job. I don’t make that much, but i can’t get food stamps or me a medical card to help us out cause they say i make to much and i don’t. I am age 26, my husband Jim is 31, Uncle Paul 36 is my Brother-in law that is blind, mentally and physical handicapped due to an accident at the age of 12, Spencer is 8 and the Twins are two months shy of 4.The only thing all 3 boys asked for was a BIG SLIDE and SWING like the play ground has.
The last year has been so hard for my family. I Lost my job in August Due to layoffs. Jim stays at home to help Paul and watch over the Kids.We are such a BIG Family we travel in a suburban God took my Dad, this year at age 53, when his kidneys failed him. (this was, is and always will be hard for me) When Dad left I knew He was scared, I knew, he was right with God and Himself, and I know know we’ll meet again. I reassured he was the Best Dad he could be to me and Paw-Paw to my Boys.
The only kind of Family I have left at all in this Big Scary world is my Dads, Mom, ~Grandma-Shirley~ Loving, stability that was there no matter what time of the Day it was.
Well, God took~Grandma-Shirley’s~ to meet my Dad.While sitting here thinking about Christmas and NO one but me and the family I’ve made is left. Its so lonely with out them.
Again, God took My Husband Mom, this past November to join my Dad and ~Grandma-Shirley~ in heaven. Jim and I have both lost all our life-lines in a matter of months.
The day after my Mother In-law pasted. I was put in the hospital for over a week due to some Major lower intestinal infection.
