Whats your view on this psychological idea?

Every emotion experienced is in a hierarchy! Basically each emotion has it’s own level in the mind; thus if you feel one emotion (e.g. happiness) it can be overridden by another emotion (e.g. anger). Some emotions are on the same level (e.g. love and hate), and some on different levels, fear being the king and overriding all other emotions. It becomes quite complicated, because different emotions are experienced at the same time, but I think there is always one dominant emotion experienced at any time! Does this make sense? And am I onto something here, or bordering on insanity? Crits would be appreciated! Thanks =D

I’ve always thought that getting angry can be a way of hiding when someone is sad. Also, wouldn’t it be interesting if brain chemicals contributed to someone to having a default way of being in the world (hopeful, bored, nervous, happy) that they feel most comfortable with. And sometimes you can change it, I mean, some people change emotional landscapes by taking medicine. So certain chemicals can override certain other neurotransmitters at that point. So if fear knocks adrenaline into your system, it’d override any thoughts about trivial stuff.

I agree that fear is an emotion that plays a big part of human behavior, but I don’t agree that it is the king of all emotions and overrides every other emotion. I need to gather more thoughts on this before I post more.
