My computer’s givin’ me lip :P :( !

As most of you might know, my Windows Acer computer refuses to play any of the DVDS I insert. My mom bought it new around Labor Day, and recently it decided to only play a DVD once in a blue moon. :(

I know this sounds non-techy, but it makes funny noises like it’s trying to start the DVD and can’t get going. It just whirs and dies…..whirs and dies…..in a cycle.

We tried spraying for dust into the drive, that didn’t help. I played the DVD on a different computer, my mom’s, to test if the problem was the DVD. It’s definitely the computer.

Any ideas what’s with the computer drive?

And sorry if my last post about this didn’t give much information. Here’s a little update on it, anyways. :P

LOL. it might be the laser inside the drive. if it gets something on it then it wont be able to read the CD. i had the same problem with my PSP, but i managed to clean it and now they work fine :)

We tried that with the dusting thing, but couldn’t reach it. How would we clean it?

i got my screen cleaner and stuffed it into the disk drive until it was touching, then sort of shut the drive and then slowly tugged on it. sounds weird, but it worked

What do you mean by tugging on it? My mom wants to know. :S

O.o

i tugged on it so it would sort of be forced to come out of the drive, but because the drive was closed it just sorta moved back and forth over the laser. and it cleaned it

You won’t believe this! My mom still didn’t know what you meant by tugging on it, so I stuck a gum wrapper halfway through the disc drive, and when it closed, I pulled it out. Then the DVD started to play!!!!!!!!!!

That’s why I burst into laughter. And my mom had been feeling better after a bad cough, not coughing until I told her what I did, and she laughed so hard she started coughing again! :P :D

Thanks everyone, especially to Langers and my mom, because if Langers hadn’t told me to try that cleaning by tugging thingy and if my mom hadn’t asked what that meant, to where I showed her (thanks to the gum wrapper too ;D) I wouldn’t have watched Family Guy (the DVD) today! LOL.
