Find help: I think there’s something really wrong with me… i just can’t stop talking out loud to myself! - Help.com

I think there’s something really wrong with me…

i just can’t stop talking out loud to myself! i dunno… i just used to talk aloud to myself at home, u know, like if some politician on tv said something totally stupid or if my cat made a mess, or if i mislaid something and was frantically searching for it, but i find that i’m increasingly voicing my thoughts whereever i am. i don’t say them very loud, but it’s audible, and although i’ve never gotten into trouble because of it i have had some close shaves… is this me being weird and do i need to get help or do all of u do this sometimes, and i have a more extreme case of ‘normalness’?!

I used to do it, and I still do, its just a matter of controlling yourself.

I don’t think it’s serious, it’s just a quirk, if it bothers you you’ll just have to discipline yourself to stop doing it.

Well, it IS better than hitting yourself in the head with a brick while screaming

” I am a tasty burrito”
it’s all about perspective my friend.

I found that talking to myself, is the natural response to not having anyone to talk to. Of course there are people to talk to, but try to find one that listens. THat is a little harder. You obviously have an oppinion, but you may not be confident that people want to hear it. PEOPLE DO WANT TO HEAR IT. To become HEARD - you need to LISTEN. When you LISTEN to what other people are saying, or trying to say, you can gather that information, interperate it, and will have a chance to respond. Once you start listening, you will realise that it is those who speak the least, many times, understand the most. Remember too that communication is only partially verbal, the other part, the part filled with emotion, is in your body language. you can say almost anything without words. Once you learn how to weave the two languages together in a way that expresses YOU, you will be able to accomplish anything!
