How do I keep programmers building my site from stealing my idea?

I have a great business idea that I want to develop a website for but I’m afraid the developers/programmers I talk to will just steal the idea and make the site on their own, or make a competing site faster than mine can be done, and better since they have the skill to put as much time as they need to into it. Can anyone tell me how to develop a new business/website concept without the programmers stealing the idea and creating a better site than I could afford to pay them and creating it before mine is even finished?

Do it yourself.

You cannot get a copyright on an intangible source such as theme for a website or script written to create a website.

I can’t do it myself. The website idea is more complex than average and requires 3rd party software and technology. Other than that, I’m not technical at all, I’m not a programmer.

If you’re really concerned about it, you should probably call a lawyer and request a quote. A lawyer should be able to put together some legal documents that you can have your programmers sign.

Or, if you want to get by really cheap, use something like this at the very least…

My personal business website I created for $1000 because I used a South American firm. In the USA the same site would have cost me $5000 to $6000. Since I cannot afford to use a USA based development firm, I doubt there is any recourse if I use a non-USA based programmer, isn’t that right? If so, are there other ways to protect my idea?
