Find help: I have been looking for free customer contact database, that I could show my boss and convince him that this would work. - Help.com

I have been looking for free customer contact database, that I could show my boss and convince him that this would work.

I have been to several sites and the longest I can get a trial period is 1 month and then the price is ridiculous. So I have considered creating a private website and building our own contact management database on that. Then I could give our company the ID and password and they could view it, or make changes to certain customers that they are dealing with. So I’m looking for some suggestions on the following:
-Anyone know of a free Contact Management Database
-Anyone know where I could find a private website that I could purchase or is free?
-Anyone know of where I could go to find how to build a contact management database?

Websites, also not free, but they aren’t terribly expensive.
Depending on how much programming language you know you could build one.

Building a website with a database—you’ll have to worry about network security.
What kind of database are you looking for? Like how many fields…what sort of information. In an age like we are in currently, identity theft is a huge concern, putting personal information on the web.

Yes, K, I have what you need. I would highly recommend a free contact management database website which has all you need. You can even configure it and change and add fields to suit your exact needs. You can find it at www.freecrm.com, and you’re welcome!

Well if they’re not residents of the United States, they don’t have to abide by the courts of the United States as far as I know. And even if I could sue them, there would be no recourse since they are out of the country, have no assets in the United States and are not United States citizens. Any other ideas of how I can protect a business/website idea while it’s being developed?

Yeah, stop being part of the economic collapse and hire Americans….college students are usually willing to work for less than someone who has a larger resume.

Hey, if you can find me a student skilled enough to create a more complicated website than myspace and can do it for 20% of market rate (because that’s what I would pay outside of the U.S.) then let me know and I’ll hire them right away!

20% of market rate vs. security of the company. hm.

Well, let me weight my options. Since there is a web-business, there IS NO company until I develop the website. And since there IS NO company until I develop a website, I guess security of the non-existant “company” doesn’t really matter, eh?! So I think I’ll go for the 20%! Thanks again for your help!
