Hello,

I am a married mother of two wonderful teenage daughters. One will be 16 on Dec. 4th and the other will be 15 on Jan. 11th. Our oldest has diabetes, and is being tested for a brain tumor. The youngest has Mitral Valve Prolapse, ADHD, O.D.D. and Bipolar 2 Disorder. I have been on SSI Disability for over 5 years, and in Dec. 2005 I had Gastric Bypass surgery to save my life. Since then, I have lost over 165 pounds, and am still losing, so my goal is in sight. Since I have lost the weight, my diabetes is gone, my high blood pressure is gone, my sleep apnea is gone, and I no longer have to take 12 medicines a day. SO…I decided to go back to work, for the company that helps my mom take care of my terminally ill father. I work 5 days a week, 7 hours a day, and make 8.00/hr. They have completely cut out my SSI check now, and I may not get Medicaid anymore starting in December. They have also cut our foodstamps to 150.00/mo. My husband is currently looking for work, but with my income only coming in, we barely have enough to scratch together food money, not alone Christmas gifts and Birthday gifts. I know our girls are old enough to understand not having enough money to make ends meet, but what child, no matter the age, wouldn’t be hurt without anything to open on Christmas morning. This may very well be our last Christmas with my father also, and it is really tough on us all. I can provide proof of income, utilities, ect…I don’t want a handout, just a hand-up. Maybe this time next year, my husband and I will both be working, and can help another family in need. That would be so awesome, to be able to provide enough for our family, AND have enough left over to help someone else who is in our shoes. My husband has an interview on Dec. 1st with the board of education in our county for a janitorial position. It is an awesome job, with even more awesome benefits, once he would make it to full time, and not a substitute (which he would start out as). I just pray he’ll get the job, as he has ALOT of experience. If he gets this job, we won’t have to have ANY kind of assistance anymore, and that would be the best gift I could get for my christmas. Please keep us in your prayers, and God Bless You all for taking the time to read our story and condsider us for help this Christmas/Birthdays.

I’ll say a prayer for your family. Like your youngest I have mitral valve prolapse, it’s not really a serious condition, quite common actually, it just needs to be monitored. Blessings to you and yours.

Thanks for the prayers. Yes, she sees a doctor once every 6 months to monitor her heart. Thankfully she is doing well so far. Now if her other problems would be so easy to deal with…lol. God Bless you, and your family!
