I die in all my dreams, that can’t be good…
A recurring event in my dreams is that I die. My dreams are never first person in as much as I see myself in my dreams, as opposed to being myself.
In the most recent, I (for one reason or another) jumped into a river to save a child. The water was icy and I died while everyones attention was on the child that I saved.
Is this ‘normal’ for dreams?

“To dream of your own death, indicates a transitional phase in your life. You are becoming more enlightened or spiritual. Alternatively, you are trying desperately to escape the demands of your daily life.”
“To dream that you die in your dream, symbolizes inner changes, transformation, self-discovery and positive development that is happening within you or in your life. Although such a dreams may bring about feelings of fear and anxiety, it is no cause for alarm and is often considered a positive symbol. Dreams of experiencing your own death usually means that big changes are ahead for you. You are moving on to new beginnings and leaving the past behind. These changes does not necessarily imply a negative turn of events. Metaphorically, dying can be seen as an end or a termination to your old ways and habits. So, dying does not always mean a physical death, but an ending of something.
“On a negative note, to dream that you die may represent involvement in deeply painful relationships or unhealthy, destructive behaviors. You may feeling depressed or feel strangled by a situation or person in your waking life. Perhaps your mind is preoccupied with someone who is terminally ill or dying. Alternatively, you may be trying to get out of some obligation, responsibility or other situation. “
I would like to hear what some of your other dreams like if you feel like sharing others? Are they fearful dreams or are the others about helping other people?
Huh, interesting, but unfortunately i don’t know anything on representing dreams, lol, well hey you save the kid, thats a good thing right?
Well this could mean many things maybe the child in the wayer you saved was you and you died from that child hood state in your dreams
I have always heard that when you die in your dream.. especially when you can see your own self in it.. you are in an out of body expierence.. an when you die.. its your soul trying to get back into your physical body because you are waking up..
Last night I dreampt that I was reaching for a huge heavy box for an unknown reason and it fell on me. It hit my head and my neck broke, broke. I saw my death and it didn’t hurt at all. Maybe because it was like an instantaneous death. Anyways, so my “spirit” rose up and I went up to my mom to tell her that I died and that my body was in my bedroom. My mom begin to cry and so did my other family members. She didn’t want to get rid of the body so she wrapped it with some clear plastic thing and placed my body under the bed (weird). At first they could see me and hear me but not touch me. I wasn’t in a solid form. Then I saw a big bright circle and I was convinced that I had to walk to it but my older sister stopped me from going. When the circle closed, my spirit begin to become clear and then nobody could see me or hear me. They could only feel my presence. During the dream, I remember looking at the mirror but not seeing my reflection. In the dream, I stayed with my family for a few hours then left to my college to see how my friends were coping with my death. When I got there everyone was crying and three of my friends decided to communicate with me through the ouija board. Before I woke up, I was communicating with my friends through the board. It was much longer than that and whole lot of stuff happened but I just wanted to summarise it. This was my first death dream. When I woke up, I couldn’t believe that I had a dream like that. Ever since I was young, I have heard that when one sees her/himself dying and dies before waking up, then one dies in real life. But after this dream, I am convinced that is just a myth.
Hmm..My dreams never have a happy ending. Either I am killed, or someone I know is hurt in some way. I have gotten used to them. The only part I haven’t gotten used to is the part when I die. Before it happens I always think it’s not going to hurt…but it does. I usually remember everything that happens. I don’t understand how I can physically feel being beaten, burned, or cut. In the first nightmare I can remember having, my great grandmother was killed. About two days later, I found out she had died in the hospital.
I’ve had this happen to me for years. Has not happened lately, but it used to be that if I had dreamt/remembered a dream, then it was one where I had died. I would be hit by a car, stabbed, shot and kicked while dying - and worst thing was, most of the time it was ‘very painful’ though I never have been stabbed or shot. During those years I was in a very happy relationship, there was no illness or unhappiness in my family or anything else I could pinpoint these dreadful dreams to.
Okay, for the people who die in literally every dream they have, or have it as a recurring dream, I think if you can’t figure out what it means you might want to ask a shrink. Chances are it may mean something specific to you depending on your situation etc.

The past 4 nights I have died in my dreams. In three of them I have died twice. Last night I died once and I got into 2 fist fights. One of them his old harry fat man was trying to kill me but I got away. In every dream right before I die I somehow contact my ex boyfriend and tell him good bye and that I love him. So this really makes sense to me. Thank you.
Try to learn how to lucid dream, it’s a really nice experience.
Don’t freak out of you die in your dream. I was always told that if you die and wake up then everything is going to be fine but if you doe and don’t wake up then something bad is going to happen to you. However, after studying the topic later in life I realized that when you doe in a dream it means you are transitioning to a new part of your life and your sub-conscience is simply clueing you in. I have written quite a bit in the subject, feel free to read my recent blog post on the topic. http://www.whatdoesitmeanwhenyoudream…
Jennyalle, If the don’t wake up after dying in their sleep, how can something bad happen to them, wouldn’t they already be dead-since they didn’t wake up? Just curious.
I have died in my dreams several times. Every time it has felt good. I feel warm and comfortable almost high…like on morphine. I am surrounded by warm light and then I wake up where my “high” feeling lingers for several moments. I have died in war, I have died in car accidents, and I have died in explosions. One time I watched two friends kill themselves in the wake of a nuclear explosion while deployed. I began to burn from radiation and I killed myself too. They all have the same warm ending though. Why?
