Im a gamer, i base most of my free time around haivng time for video games.

when i graduate from college, i plan on getting a job as a video game programmer for either Bungie, studio eidos, Squareco North America, or Blizzard Entertainment. long story short, im just 6 months short of being able to do the most basic of gruntwork at a fast food resturaunt. i want to play WoW more than anything, but first, i have to (1. Get enough to buy a better laptop, (2. get enough to upgrade my internet connection, (3. Get enough to buy the actual games, and (4. set aside enough to pay for the subscription. The question is, should i go ahead and get work at 15, or wait until 16 when i can work for normal hours, and get paid a good ammount for that kind of work.

Limit video game time, they shouldn’t be something of a life choice that way. World of Warcraft isn’t the only thing which matters in life, and as for getting enough money for a computer, start working at 16, in the meantime, join a sport or take up running or doing something of that nature to have a balance of when you’re out of the house and enjoying time working out or being with friends. There must be a healthy balance.

I didn’t mean it like that baconator96, honestly I didn’t. I mean to say that it’s just tough because you can’t get paid for playing video games. Many people don’t have time to play them at all, it’s a great privellage to be able to, I have to be honest in that.
I don’t mean you should go find friends or something because you certainly must have some. Just try to limit video game time and spend more time with people. Video games are nice, but the programmers work very hard, and unless you’re working extremely hard in the knowledge of them, it’s a difficult field to get into. I’m not trying to doubt your dreams, but it’s tough, and it’s always good to have a good support to lean back on in life. The way it seems so far, it’s as though you’re very much delving into video gaming, I think it’s good for what you want to do and I wish you luck in it. You’ll find your way in life and find the things you want to do, I’m sorry I sounded offensive.

God put it very blatantly, but i agree with #5. I;m sure that you do have friends, but truely, honestly, undoubtly video games will eat away at your life and soul. They did it to me. For me it was an addiction, but i’ve dropped it, and I love my life 10x more now.

If you find you have a passion for something that’s good. But we wise - do you need qualifications? Enjoy your passion but do all the other things too. Video games do not put food in your belly or a roof over your head. So balance, my friend, balance.

I would wait until your 16 or until the summer. Basically you need to take a realistic look at everything. I was talking to some people in the gaming industry and one guy said that you should be really good at drawing and should always be doing it, aswell as being able to start from scratch and make a classic game like pacman. I would definitely take your time with everything and don’t rush into work. It gets old quick especially if your working fastfood. Anyways ask your parents for some help with funds or ask for a couple months for a christmas present. If you can’t afford WoW, their are always other alternatives aswell such as the free mmo’s. There are a few good ones.
