My Rant on Financial Woes
I am very concerned about the amount of foreclosures that the news in my state reports, and I know it is going on around the country. We are seeing the pleas for help here daily. Finally, officials are starting to notice: http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ar...
I feel like I am standing in the late 1920s, watching things start to fall apart. Are we heading to Great Depression II?
And I wonder how much of this is because of ways in which we as a society have allowed little things to go unchecked: credit cards being offered to youngsters without proven jobs, allowing banks/credit card companies/investment companies to merge (repealing a law enacted because of the Great Depression), letting consumerism become standard fare, not teaching our youth to make wise financial decisions, allowing our government to be a bad example by running up trillions of dollars of debt.
And who will pay? The tenuous middle class. Those upon whose back most of this nation is built.
Injustice in the name of comfort and complacency.
