Restart? I have to do that time to time cuz my computer loses the info for the soundcard.

Otherwise you are missing the drivers. Download them from the manufacturers website.

Do you have a soundcard or speakers?
Some computers do not have them.
If you have a soundcard, you have a place for speakers to plug into. If you have speakers, something is plugged in there.
If you have both, check that the speakers are turned on or that the mute button on your keyboard (if you have a mute button on your keyboard) or the mute button on the control panel is not turned off.

well i have both , speakers and sound card…i mean i had one..where would it have gone? i presume it has been re- moved or corrupted..and maybe when i put in the recovery disc i did it wrong lol..but every thing was cleaned off and i had to reinstall all the window components…the only thing i can think of doing is taking it in and have a professional do it…im really ticked..because it must have been a bug..

Please take no offence to this post. I put this on most computer posts until it can be added to the help bot.

People asking for Computer help please read.

To be able to help you we need to have more detail than “there was an error and now the computer does not start”

with that information there is no way that we can help.
here is a list of information that if you send along then we can help better.
-what operating system(what windows ie: xp, vista, 98, etc.)
-desktop or laptop.
-make and model
-any error messages exactly as they were displayed.
-any odd noises, or smells that have ocoured since the problem.
-let us know if you have installed any new hardware or software since the problem.

By posting this information the first time round we don’t have to ask and can resolve the issue faster.

Basicly we need more info in most cases.
just something to keep in mind.

You need to load the driver for your sound card. It would be easy if you knew what sound card you had, otherwise its a nightmare. If you took off the computer case housing, you might be able to tell what sound card you have by looking at the label on it, if there is one. Otherwise, you may be able to find out what card you have by looking up the model specs at the computer maker’s web site or you may be able to download a generic sound card driver that will work. Good luck.
