Do animals have a soul?

I’m not talking about life, I’m talking about a soul and self-conscience…

well you could go either way, if you belive in souls that is, why would a liveing creature not have one?
Also how can you prove they do or don’t have one when humans don’t know if they have one either?

Let’s start with humans, they consist of a physical body, a soul and a spirit. You may think a soul and the spirit are basically the same thing, but actually it’s not. The soul is the human’s personality and the spirit is the part of a human that lives on forever after it’s physical form dies. Animals consist of both a body and a soul. In other words, it has a physical form and a personality. If you were wondering originally if animals, say your pet dog, will go to Heaven when they die then here is a straight forward answer. I’m not sure about your beliefs, but I believe that if you ask God for anything he will give it to you. In Matthew 7:7 Jesus says “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, anthe door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” Those were just a few of the many wisely spoken words Jesus had said while he was on the Earth. My point is that although your pet and animals in general, do not have an spirituall body that lasts forever, if you ask God to allow your pet to be with you in heaven (or go to Heaven if it already past away) than he will do that for you. And if you aren’t sure if you are going to Heaven after your physical body is done, then here’s how you get there. 1st realize that you’ve made mistakes (everyone has and no one’s perfect); 2nd ask Jesus to forgive you of those mistakes (he loves you and there’s nothing to great that you’ve done that he can’t forgive you for…he actually wants to forgive you. Plus, after you ask for forgiveness God forgets the mistakes you’ve made…yeah pretty cool) Those are the steps you need for your eternal spirit to enter Heaven…yeah that’s it…you don’t just go because your were a “good” person and never killed anyone. You get to go to Heaven because JEsus took your spot on the cross, he died for you. Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Basically, we were supposed to spiritually die (our eternal spirit would go to Hell) but Jesus died in our place and all we have to do is except Christ’s sacrifice and ask for forgiveness.
However, don’t just stop at this point. God loves you too much to let you just get a free ride into Heaven, he want’s to be your friend on the Earth. ANd I strongly advice you to find any Bible you got (borrow one or buy one) and go to a church with loving, true christians at least once. And I mean loving, true christians, because I’m sure you’ve meet fake ones before. And if you had or still have any doubts it there is really a God, just look up into the stars one night and that’s all the evidence you need for a creator.
God Bless you and Great question :)

Invading the earth? If they had souls…they would be…invading the earth…I think you are confusing “intellect” with “soul” and “alien” with “animal”.
Anyhow!
As for OP, that’s a personal belief kind of topic, but I believe they do have souls. I see the wonderful personalities of the cows, chickens, cats, parakeets etc that I have encountered as evidence that there is more to them than an empty shell. They are individuals, they form bonds, they learn and accommodate, they have preferences and needs…my interpretation of something soulless is something nearly robotic- it possesses no depth, it just exists.
My religious beliefs also weigh into this topic for me, as I believe that God sent forth his spirit into every creature.

i wonder this at times. im pretty aware that animals such as horses, cats cows etc etc would be in physical pain it they had a leg taken off.
when we had a cat he would go through strange temperments, like stages of anger. if u went near him in a strange mood he;d scratch you! preeeooowww!!!

IF humans have souls then animals have souls too. some humans just think they dont cause humans are concieted morons who think the universe revolves around them.

You’ll have to define what a soul is before I can answer that.

I am absolutely sure that they do because of something that happened to me some time ago. It convinced me of that and also made it clear that something about us survives after we die. I could tell you the story but sorry, don’t have time now. Maybe I’ll get back to you later on that. I am replying anonymously because, of course, some people might consider that I’m crazy or have some kind of mental illness, wich is not the case. It only happened once but it was very convincing. I guess some things you can’t believe in unless you are the main witness.

Yes, I believe they have a soul. Animals are a lot more clever than we give them credit for, however I think that their priority set is very different from ours. Especially as most have been domesticated and don’t need to learn/do what we as people do.

I think Anon is probably talking about an experience with the departed spirit of a pet. People see people and loved pets as ghosts, all the time, I don’t think it’s that odd.

if you look at animals, you will see very different personalities between them, to me, at least, this is proof of a soul. Without a soul, then an animal could not possibly have feelings.

Our little dog was ridden over on Tuesday, 06 Jan 2009 at 4;15 pm right in front of me. I witnessed the whole thing and the stupid driver who had been way over the speed limit didn’t even get out to identify himself, say he was sorry, offer to help, nothing - he just drove away. He hit our dog so hard and I heard every sickening thump and bump as he went over his body. I gathered our dog up into my arms and with each last breath he took blood would bubble up out of his mouth. He died on the way to the vet. He was such a special part of our family and we are all so traumatized by his death. One minute he was so alive, running around, playing with my kids, not five minutes later he was dead! I can’t believe that a creature so innocent, loyal and loving can just have the life snuffed out of it like that and that’s it - the end? I can’t believe in a God who would be that cruel. I know in my heart that our dog’s spirit lives on - it simply has to.
