What do you do when you are 30 years old and your life is going to pot?
I have worked for everything in m,y life and now I can’t catch up with anything and when you have bad credit no one ever wants to help you the reason why I need help is to get myself out of this mess. I want a loan to payoff my debt. Noone sees that i work hard for the things I have they just look at your credit score. I want to do this but I can’t do it by myself.

Where were you?

and…
May you have a Prosperous and Healthy 2008!
1. How’s work?
2. Have you worked on budgeting your life?
3. What sort of payment plan have you worked on for your debt?
4. Is it so bad that you need debt consolidation?
Basically, all of these things factor into each other.
Steady work can affect a loan. Depending on your monthly income—it affects your budget. What you have available can be a step in the right direction and will give you an idea of what the consolidator will tell you—plus generally they ‘buy the debt’ and then you make payments to them. Debt consolidation can be good, but it can also be bad and reflect as poorly as declaring bankruptcy.
Dude I’m right there with you. . . . and you have to have money to make money. I have a ton of medical debt and of course while I was going through all this medical crap I couldnt work very much and I have a ton of student loans too. . . Its embarassing, it took about 6 years to build up my life. . . and only one year to destroy it. Now I’m in a new city and I can’t get a job, I’ve been here almost 11 weeks and no work. . . I had to call home for the first time ever and ask for money. yuck. . . so when you figure it out let me know. I want to go back to my university and ask for a refund for my degree, it cost me a bunch of money and doesn’t appear to be helping me at all in the professional world.

My brother has a similar problem, he graduated last summer and is still having a hard time finding a job.
You have to work on your resume, and network…after several months of working with a friend of his my brother might have just found a job.
I know I’m making it sound simple but I also know it’s not.
You know I have been out for just about a year and a half officially now. . . I have a degree in biology and physics. I had 2 good jobs lined up both of which lost their funding. I have been struggling to make ends meet all through college and now its like I’m sinking sinking. . sunk. I did demographics on different areas to just kind of pick a place and get out of Michigan (the economy is imploding) and I am in Boise, ID right now. It did have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country until this year. . . so now Im stuck in another place where I can’t find a job. ITs not like I’m not skilled I have a ton of great experience a professionally written resume, and you have to have money to be able to network I don’t even have enough money to eat on a regular basis much less go out and meet people.
The job I have currently I found through a parton at the coffee house I use to work at. I was a barista—but I had 3 years of office management prior to working at the independent coffee house…
Believe me I know what it’s like being in a position where you’d work ANYWHERE, but most of the ‘better’ jobs I’ve had, I found through friends. Just telling people I need a job…they tied me over at least until I was able to get more on my feet.

Here are some excellent links for Job Search. Manpower is probably one of
the best out there. Publically Traded and Worldwide, a search in different
States should yield wonderful results.
Job Search:
I’ve been registered with Manpower for 3 years now and I call them ALL the time. . . .they are useless. The only way you are going to get a job these days is if you know somebody. And the whole apply online thing is a sham it just means its easier to throw away your resume without even considering it because most places only post jobs because legally they have to, they already have in mind who they are going to hire before they even post the job.
The tactical methods you must use with job posting is to make
an offer by phone. Propose at least $1 less per hour. Trust me, even
if there is a candidate with-in the Company, they will look hard
and long at your proposed offer. I have attained positions using
this very same tactic.
Now to address the statement “apply online thing being a sham”.
Always call and ask for the decision maker.
Ask if you could come in and see him or her. Make your proposal if it appears
the interview is heading south. It’s your last ditch offer.
Since you can’t stand Manpower nor Career Site…..
Here is a Community Site that Posts real job offers that haven’t been
filled from the Ranks. Click on your City then look under JOBS.
Check daily for postings come in by the hour.
I wish you the best.
I’ve done the craig’s list thing. . . . and I usually keep an excel file of where I’ve applied, when I called or visited, which resume I sent them, who I talked to, etc. and any other details. And I don’t know if I can really sit there and say I’ll work for a dollar less. . . honestly wages top out around $10 in Boise, ID. . . But I’ve been a TON of places just about everything you could possibly come up with to tell me to do I’ve already done or currently am doing. The truth is the economy all over the country is poor and its the new graduates that really feel that more than anything. I’m not the only one. I have 2 friends with biochemistry degrees and years of research experience .. one of them cleans houses for a living the other one works at a Jimmy Johns. You end up having to go back and get a MA or PhD because the BA/BS is the new high school diploma . . and with the extra $100K in debt you then compete with hundreds of people for a job that pays about $15/hr and you end up waiting tables on the weekends to make ends meet anyway.
I’m curious Postchka,
What is your Profession or Skill Set that’s difficult to obtain employment?

That was the point….to eliminate the competition. Granted, it may take a few
years to come up to speed or if you’re sharp, work 1 hour overtime everyday. That
will make up for the $1 lost per hour until your raises bring you to your target
goal.
Remember, it’s a tactic in getting the job or foot in the door. As you have
mentioned, students and other pursuers are the competition. You must do what
others will not, offer their services at a discount. At least you’ll be employed
and able to pay bills while looking for your idea employment conditions.
You write and express yourself very well. It shows a sign of higher Intelligence
that’s capable and engaging. I see you having victory in the very near future…
for your future is bright!!!!

I have a BS in biology and physics. . . tons of research experience. .. . . grrr
Potchka, I have a friend with a similar skill set, she works for a medical company locally. Maybe you should be looking for work in an area with more medical research or startup companies.
I had a similar experience with a Young Woman whom had a skill set
that wasn’t in demand in South Africa. I pointed out to her that
Civil Engineering was in demand in her Country. Now she is in
school training for another career….
A B.S. in Biology and Physic’s tells me that you can attain a Teaching Credential
or train for a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner Career…a change is in order.
There is also Online Tutor Jobs that hire Virtual Teachers. I had done some Professional Research work for a firm online..I can’t remember their name due
to my previous computer had all of the information on my crashed hard drive.
Your Profession can now be done all online or Telecommute from many Companies
here in the US and Europe.
Would you consider relocating again? If so, this Research Job may be the
ticket and “Times and I” will be paying your salary……
