friends help: Why can’t I find a one bedroom apartment or even a studio for rent for about $1000 a month in the Bay Area? - Help.com

Why can’t I find a one bedroom apartment or even a studio for rent for about $1000 a month in the Bay Area?

I’ve looked in San Bruno, South San Francisco, Millbrae, and Daly City. I need to be close to my work and my school and I don’t have the money to afford a car or even pay for gas if I had one. Why is it that a student who works full time and is moving out with their friend who is also a student and also works full time can’t find a place to live? Why is working as hard as I can amounting to nothing?

Give it a try under “Housing” look for what you want. You may have to resort to renting a “Room” or something from someone. I know it’s hard. I work 40-60 hours a week and do school 14 units. It’s chaotic, but it’s possible. Hopefully SFBay gives you something useful.. Having two people helps a lot!! I have to do it on my own, but I tell you that it is possible to live off what you have, but you can’t expect a whole lot from the area. SF has some mighty fine problems with being over populated.

I have a nice in-law in the Sunset District that I’m paying $1,009 a month for. Keep searching on craigslist and you’ll be bound to find something. Rent is pretty high right now. If you can’t afford anything, then you should really consider getting roommates to help with the cost.
