I would just be honest and tell her that I mean no offense, but it’s to help her out.

Real and true friends can be honest with each other without being offensive or being offended if what they say is said in a loving manner.

Plenty and I mean plenty of people have called me the B word and have gotten mad at me for my opinion, but only a real friend can really say “I was standing there thinking that you needed to shut up” and I still smile when I think of my very best friend in the world saying that to me.

Yes, whatever you do, tell her privately, you don’t want to embarrass her. As soon as she knows, you probably never have to mention the issue again, she will be so conscious about it for a while, and will be so grateful that you told her!

Well, next time this happens, you could be ready with some cheap gum, or you could pull her aside some time and tell her that as a friend you think you should tell her that her breath is a little smelly. I think you should tell her, just do it nicely.

It is hard to tell someone something like that. How you do this depends on how well you know them. Sometimes it is easier if you only know them a little by gently taking them to one side and saying in a caring voice, ‘thought you might like to know that your breathe is not too good. Have this mint for now until you get a chance to clean your teeth.’
If you know them better than that, then a quick ‘hey, your breath smells a bit stale, have you got some food or something stuck between your teeth. Go get some chewing gum to help clean them for now.’ and if there is someone your friend is attracted to, mention that you wouldn’t want them talking to the love of their life with smelly breath.’
There is no easy answer, but to tell them is better than letting them carry on not knowing. You could try the ’sit down I want to try to tell you something your going to hit me for, but I think if you knew you could do something about it or go and see if the dentist can help.’
Tell us what happens if you decide to help your friend out. You don’t always get thanked for helping, so be prepared.
