Help!

My PS2 won’t work. I’ve tried cleaning it out with a paint brush and that hasn’t worked. It’s been working perfectly fine recently. It won’t read anything. Even DVD’s. And when I open up the door, and shut it, the bottom of the screen flashes “Reading Disk…” 2 times and it goes away. My Memory card works but the disks don’t. In fact, I don’t even hear the disk spinning. Please help!!! And please, I don’t want people telling me to throw it away or do anything to distroy it.

P.S. I have one of the mini PS2’s.

Perhaps you can call the company up and ask them for technical assistance. Or, if you have the original users manual that came with the PS2, there might be information within it that can help you.

Have you tried different disks?
It sounds like the disks could be scratched or dirty.
Either that or the disk drive isn’t shutting properly. Give a very gentle push on it when it closes to make sure it closes properly.
Remember to look after your disks.

Ugh this happened to me too,i think it depends what kind of ps2, whether it be a small one or one of the big *** ones. I used to have a big one, but then it stopped reading anything and i took it in. They said that the laser had gone on it,and that happened because we played dvds on it. I then bought a small ps2 and apparently this type has a laser that works with dvds. This one i have had for about 2 years, and the big *** one that broke down i had for 3 or 4 before the laser went. Back then when minebroke they said the laser would cost about 150 - 200$ to replace, so i just bought the new small one which was about the same price as replacing the laser. The new one works like a charm, but rite now if i were to buy a new one i would get a PS3. Tough luck kid, and I hope its not the laser.

Unfortunately, I can’t find my manual. We just ordered a new laser but it was the whole thing. Like the whole laser and motor thing that spins the disk. And see, thats the thing. I can’t get my disks to spin. The laser works and it moves. It is the motor thing that doesn’t spin. We took the top off and replaced the laser “dock”. I can hold down the 2 buttons things to make the laser move back and forth. The laser flashes. I can spin it while holding the 2 buttons and after like 3 or 4 seconds the laser turns on and stays on. But if I stop, the laser turns off 3 seconds after I stop spinning the disk. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
