I just switched to digital photography and I don’t know much about digital photo storage.

I would like to be able to archive all of my picture files. The problem is that my computer has a Trojan Horse problem( a question for another day.) How can I safely store my digital files and be able to use them on any new computers that we might get in the future without giving a new computer any viruses?

You can burn them to CDs or DVDs. Picasa (a free photo program from Google) will archive your photos for you, provided that you feed it CDs occasionally…

If you don’t have a CD writer you can pick-up a flash drive at most electronics stores or Wal-mart. When you plug it into your USB port it will show up as an additional drive. If you go to MY COMPUTER you will see it as the last drive (removable). You can drag-and-drop or cut and paste your pictures to it. Also you can buy a larger memory module for your camera and keep your photos on it. If you don’t have a slot to read your photo memory, you can pick-up an inexpensive memory card reader that plugs into your USB port. It will function the same as a flash drive.

1) go to www.AGF and download free virus protection. Run the system test and your virus will be locked away. 2) go to www.picasa and download this free program from google. It will let you store all photos and allow you to fix them if you wish.
