Renewal
Eric
Sometimes when the sun won’t shine and everything’s gone wrong
I sit and cry and wonder what the hell is going on
Something I did? Something I said? I’m afraid I just don’t know
But the reason I will not find out ’till angels’ trumpets blow.
There’s more men in this world than I
More reasons in this world than mine
More sins are in this world than mine
But no love in this world like thine.
I stand to contemplate the clouds, the fierce gusts and the rain
It seems this quiet world of ours has become quite insane
And yet through all this trauma I can still remember your smile
And somehow I can bear the storm and keep my calm the while.
There’s more poets in this world than I
More partners, lovers, friends than I
More hands and arms and lips than mine
But none has love that matches thine.
So when we stand with arms well crossed and all our bridges burnt
I think upon our time together, think of what I’ve learned
And though today you scream at me, I know that soon enough
I know your love does wait for me, a calm to match the rough.
Just a little poem I wrote a few minutes ago for a girl I used to know, hope you like it. If you get this, Laura, I’m thinking of you.
