Thought help: Blackle not google. - Help.com

Blackle not google.

So basically, I just wanted to let people know about blackle.com it is basically an offshoot of google (it uses the same engine) but instead of a white back ground, it has a black background. This actually saves energy. It takes morre electricity for your monitor to do a white screen so the black screen saves electricity. It is kind of a tiny step for someone to take if they are really concerned about energy and stuff… I like it mostly because it looks cooler then google… lol

just thought I would throw that out there!

it says under the search button, it isn’t much… at all, but it is all about small steps. they talk more about it under the “about blackle” at the bottem… worth checking out I guess…

Considering every other website ever uses a white background, a better solution is to turn your monitor brightness down or set it to invert colors.

It’s still the same, only it does not strain my eyes much, and is less colourful.

Er, sorry to burst your bubble, but LCD monitors use the same amount of energy regardless of color. You aren’t saving any energy.

There’s a black Google for mobile phones too at http://bGoog.com that keeps your battery going longer and uses less data so your cell phone bills are cheaper.
