I have a question about ipod touch

my son wants an ipod touch for christmas, I am willing to buy it, but a friend told me yesterday that you can only have itunes, no ripped cd’s or anything like that can be downloaded into it. Does anyone know if this is true, I dont want to spend that much money and not be able to put what he wants on there.

The Ipod touch, from what I understand is like the iphone, only without the phone.

I think you have to load all your MP3’s to itunes—but that doesn’t mean you can’t rip CD’s to it—or put MP3s on it.

I hear they run about $250?

Says right there, you can import your own music…
I was wrong about the price it’s more than I thought.

The only way to put music onto an iPod is through iTunes. iTunes is Apple’s music and media library application; pop in any CD, whether it’s a standard music one or a ripped/mixed one and just rip/import the tracks straight into iTunes. Once iTunes converts them all into MP3s, then you just drag and drop them onto the iPod.

Bad interface, a lot of the stuff built in after-the-fact to just copy the iPod architecture but poorly done…overall it’s a rather crumby player. It’s all a matter of personal preference though.

HAHA, don’t listen to Marco, he LOVES Apple, so he’s bias. ;)

For a 13 and 14 year old…a Zune would probably be just fine, although it’s not the same status symbol, like with a i(whatever)—all the i products (from my personal experience have noticed that they) tend to break over a period of extended use. One of my ex-boyfriends owned 4 very expensive paperweights…

I would look at players with expandable memory, SD slots—adding another gig or two to the mix, is always nice.
