Boyfriend Communication.

We’ve been dating a year and a half and I feel as if in a rut, but I care very much about him. The biggest problem is communication. I try to tell him everything, but there have been so many times that I will mention something and he will act as if I never told him in the first place when I know I have on several occasions. It is a constant repeating game. And it is usually about very important things concerning my future, too… not piddly take out the garbage crap.

I live about fourty five minutes from him, and he hasn’t come to visit me for months. I only to go his place. I feel as if I am the one only placing phone calls. Basically I don’t want to give up on him but I feel as if this must be a lost cause. I mean, he can’t really care that much anymore if this feels like a one way relationship.

So basically this is what I’m wondering. I was supposed to go over to his place after work tomorrow, but then we got into another argument over the phone today (after I called of course) because of another one of those communication things. I think maybe I’ll just come home instead, and not call and see if he notices. See how long it takes before he bothers to see how I am for a change. See how long it takes before he comes to see me. Is this selfish? And if he doesn’t try to contact me for a week, maybe two weeks… well I know where we stand. I know there isn’t any point anymore.

Or is that all twisted logic?

DO IT! i had the same problem with my bf. He never called it was always me. so i gave up and he did notice after 3 days! so now he does all the calling, usually once in a day. but if i know now what i knew then…. i wouldnt of bothered, mine was definitely a lost cause! plus he was cheating on me, calling other girls instead… now i know why he couldnt communicate … he didnt know where he stood with anyone.

I think you’re on the right track with your plan. I also have to recommend a book called “The Rules” by Ellen Fein to you, after you read it I think you will understand what’s going on in your relationship better. It sounds like your relationship is pretty one-sided, you are making all the effort. You need to let up to find out if he even wants to see you anymore or if he’s just too cowardly to break up with you.
