SimpleXML — is it faster the the regular XML libraries?

I’ve got a system built on the default XML_Parser functions, but now that I’ve moved to PHP5 I am wondering if the SimpleXML approach would be faster.

I’ve read some issues with using simplexml for manipulation and output, but I’m only reading the XML files, so it’s supposed to be wonderful for that.

Ok,
