Making our Dreams Come True…
While it might seem a little corny, I remember this song from when I was a little girl (I was a big Laverne and Shirley fan.) :)) I never really paid much attention to the lyrics, but now they seem so uplifting. Just thought of sharing for those maybe looking for a just a bit of a boost during these darker days of winter (depending on where you are.) :)) Enjoy!
Making our Dreams Come True
by Norman Gimbel & Charles Fox.
Sung by Cyndi Grecco
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Schlemeel, schlemazel, hasenfeffer incorporated.
We’re gonna do it!
Give us any chance, we’ll take it.
Give us any rule, we’ll break it.
We’re gonna make our dreams come true.
Doin’ it our way.
Nothin’s gonna turn us back now,
Straight ahead and on the track now.
We’re gonna make our dreams come true,
Doin’ it our way.
There is nothing we won’t try,
Never heard the word impossible.
This time there’s no stopping us.
We’re gonna do it.
On your mark, get set, and go now,
Got a dream and we just know now,
We’re gonna make our dream come true.
And we’ll do it our way, yes our way.
Make all our dreams come true,
And do it our way, yes our way,
Make all our dreams come true
For me and you.

LOL! I’m not one for living in my dreams… they can get a little beyond me sometimes. :))
Oh yes… I have heard “Castles in the Sky”
Yes… its good to keep one’s head in reality. My grandma left me her journal - she passed away in September. In her journal she wrote about how imagination and dreaming lead her to live a fuller life and to overlook the unpleasant details. She was a very gifted, creative and positive person to be around. As for myself I don’t know that I would be happy faced with the cold, hard, real world as it is every day of my life. When I was a child sometimes things seemed happier to me because I lived them or I could avoid hearing the cold, hard reality …my imagination whisked me away. True - its just an escape that I can’t often turn to as an adult, but I think I would rather live with some happiness in my world. The less unnecessary stress the better the outlook in my life and as far as I know I only have one life to enjoy. So if its Castles in the Sky ….why not. :)
Aimes, this made me giggle. I remember watching when I was so very young. I think they were reruns at the time, but I can’t remember. Very cute!
Yay! I used to watch all the reruns too. I was 5 when the show first came on. I don’t remember seeing it then because I was watching Sesame Street, Electric Company and Mr. Rogers for t.v. entertainment at that point. I think I got into when I was in my teens. It always used to make me laugh! There was one scene where Laverne or Shirley are stuck hanging onto a ceiling fan and going around and around that really had me cracking up. :))
hehe, it’s a nice one. funny. and when you watched it, you won’t be giggle free! :D
LOL ~lilies~ I don’t go for long without the giggles! :))
So true Tony …stress does exist and man, don’t I know it! I just like to be able to adapt to it the best way I know how in this life and if it can cheer someone else up all the better. :) My belief is that happiness isn’t just in the end …it can be in the journey. There are so many beautiful things out there …gifts to explore, learn from and appreciate. I don’t know what I can expect after this life (as my religion may not be the same as yours), but I do know that I want to experience life in a positive light - even when the negative can teach me how to appreciate the positive.
Happy Holidays to you too! :)
“I dream is a wish out heart makes when we’re fast asleep” XD
quote from disney sleeping beauty. Who says Disneys not educational XD
Right on! I think it is sweet poetry that is in the form of lyrics or music which children can relate to and learn from. :)
ive remembered that from when i was 5 its stuck with me and its kind of one of my sayings.
Yes! I gave a music box which played this song to a friend of mine who was going through a difficult time. :D Its just one of those charming songs that gives a person a bright spot or bit of hope. Takes me back to the comfort zone of childhood when I really could live in my imagination! :D
actually i think i might dig out some old disney videos (YES videos none of this dvd nonsense :P) and have chocolates and a good “i miss my boyfriend” session XD (sorry off the topic but hes back in 2 days :D)
LOL! I love it! I might just pull out some old ones too… unfortunately I traded my videos and only have DVDs now. I own Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, 101 Dalmations, Lady and the Tramp, Pinocchio and Dumbo! I remember when I was in Italy in some shops in Venice and Florence sold hand crafted wooden Pinocchios! I am planning Italy for next summer or fall and so I think I’ll start of with good ol’ Pinocchio! :))
aww brings back memories :D i might start with snow white. XD then sleeping beauty. I got my disney put onto DVDs but i prefer the video seems more authentic XD
Yes… kind of like the old projector in school. I always felt like I was REALLY watching a film. I remember the 4,3,2,1 and the spots and scratches in the emulsion of the film until it reached the first frame of the film. Even the sounds …the way the film softly snapped along the rungs and the smell of dusty fan. Now those were the days! I remember when I saw my first film on VHS format, “Mary Poppins” - I was in 5th or 6th grade - back in the 80s! Amazing to see it like a put in a player like a cassette. When discs came out I was overwhelmed since I had already a collection of tapes - both musical and video from my teens. Oh dear - gettin’ old I am.
lol im not quite as old as of yet :P but it seems ages ago that we had videos =O how depressing :(
Oh yes… I am sure they will come up with something else the way things are moving - and it will be very pricey to start with! I remember when looking through a catalog of VHS movies some were well over $70 here (not sure in pounds)!!! I had to wait a few years for the prices to drop to $25 or so - and even that was a lot. Same thing happened with DVDs… initially quite expensive and then the price dropped over the years.
yes some are like 2 quid about 4 dollars :D i mean COME ON! (although that IS in the sales :D)
LOL! I have seen some used VHS movies here for less than a dollar now! Amazing! Considering what they were once worth. :))
theres this song thati know that say dreams are real and all you have to do is belive…. and that is true all you have to do is belive and you can make them come true…….:}
Thats a sweet thing to say! :) I like to believe that too :D
la la laa. hehe here’s a short one i’d like to share in line with making dreams come true. just like most of you, i also believe that knowing what we really want in our life would make us believe and hold on tight to our dreams.
Be True to Your Heart
And Your Dreams Will Come True
Stay true to all your beliefs and goals.
Stand tall.
Through all life’s setbacks and disappointments,
your dreams will come true.
When no one else is with you,
and no one seems to care,
just whisper to yourself,
“I am the controller of my destiny.
It’s up to me what comes to pass,
and if I keep my thoughts positive and strong,
my dreams will come true.”
When what seem to be impossible obstacles
stand in your way, just think of all the times
you got through yesterday.
There is a place for you in this world.
Stay on your chosen path.
All the power is within you;
be true to what is in your heart.
Be honest within yourself;
if you are, then you cannot fail.
Your dreams will come true.
~ Debra Ruegg-Jenkins ~
with perseverance and faith on our selves, dreams may come true. :)
Oh ~lilies~ … you always know!!! :D That was really nice …thank you for sharing! :)
I’ve always wanted to be a singer
I always wanted a Horse
I love music… go for it! We could always use more singers and there are many songs to be sung! :)
A horse? …hmm. That might be nice.
