HELP ME GET CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR MY KIDS!

!! PLEASE!!!
I have 2 kids. 10 year old girl and 7 1/2 year old boy. During the past week we have been without electric due to that horrible ice storm that hit northeastern Oklahoma. My husband was off work for a whole week and the cost of going to stay at in laws and driving back and forth to take care of our dogs was enough to strip us of the funds to buy Christmas presents. I called the Salvation Army and they said that I couldn’t get any help because the time frame expired for the Angel Tree. I personally love to donate to others, but right now is my time of need and apparently so many others in my area. So if you could help or know how I can supply my kids with presents that would be most wonderful.
Thanks
Teresa

I realize Christmas is right around the corner, but I have always been a last minute shopper. I know that is foolish but it has will been the thing I do.

My money was being saved but when your frig is without electric, your meats go bad. EVEN WHEN THE DOOR STAYS CLOSED. Not the mention driving 50 miles one way to keep going to your mother in laws. So, another words, my Christmas was quickly spent on replinishing the freezer and then the gas to go back and forth.

I do so love the fun of doing the last minute shopping. I leave my husband and kids at home and stay gone all day. (USUALLY). Then, when I get home everyone goes into my sons room and I tug all the bags and packages into the house and shut my door. Afterwards, I shout that they are free, but not to come into my room. Then, I separate the gifts for each kid and the few for my husband. Wrap my husbands presents first (or hide them away.) Then, I allow him in the room and he can help me get the wrapping completed. Soon, we are finished and the kids carry each others presents to be placed under the tree. (LESS LIKELY TO SHAKE EACH OTHERS PRESENTS AND GUESS WHAT THEY ARE!)

The presents are under the tree only a few days before they get to open them. They first get to open stocking things on Christmas Eve. Then Christmas morning we open all the others.

It is such a blast. (Oh, Breakfast usually consist of pancakes, lunch is cold cuts, and dinner is Frozen Pizzas, This is to make it easier on me and we can all enjoy the day. Cakes and pies and cookies are done the day before.)

GOOD LUCK IN YOUR SHOPPING. 2 year olds are fun to shop for, but be careful to the recall stuff. Not everybody is good at taking them off the shelves.

Check with your local Community Action or apply for a Christmas basket with local churches. We have a program here called Horn of Plenty and they supply the kids with toys and a food basket for the holidays. You need to talk to your kids and explain that right now, money is tight and you will not be able to afford allot of presents for Christmas so they will only be getting a couple of small presents. When you can afford it they will be able to get one present that they really want. Remember that it doesn’t matter how many presents they get to open. Whats important is that your there and care and love them no matter what and isn’t that what really matters. Hope this helps :-)
