My computer will not play the Foxnews.com news videos any longer.

I like to watch news stories on Foxnews.com and listen to the pop-up videos on that site (they have many “video” news stories). Recently (3 -4 months ago) my computer stopped playing them. I do not know what may have changed. When I click on the news story to view video, the viewer screen comes up, but it just stays blank. I have tried re-loading flashplayer, microsoft windows media player…etc. Nothing helps. When the video screen comes up, the square where the video is supposed to play stays a yellow/gold color. No video images ever appear.
The video worked fine for a few years, then suddenly quit?
Is there a chance someone can help?

Thanks,
Will

Try updating your flash player to the newest version. For the most part, if you have Norton or another antivirus programs, they seem to sometimes block the video. Flash is having difficulties with videos, maybe try contacting fox news if it’s the only place not working so well.

Thanks for ther help prettypouf.

I did try updating my flash player to the newest version…still doesn’t work.

Foxnews is no help…they have a help tab at the video player window, but ti just has minimal info.

I’ll see if my antivirus is causing it somehow.

Dose Flash player work on any other site? If not you may have to check your firewall settings. Also Fox news may somehow be a blocked site.

Good luck Ron

sunpetra_8, try creating an original post with a description of your project. You will probably have better luck finding a C programmer…

wlangrehr,

Under Tools > Internet Options > Security > Click on Restricted Sites > Click on Custom Levels.

Scroll down until you see Scripting > Active Scripting and click “Enable”.

See if that helps.

Had the same problem.
Video screen goes blank - no video.
It only affects Foxnews vids.
Every other site plays with no problem.
I’m stuck with watching the far left slanted CNN etc.
Missing the Fair and balanced approach to news,
Josh

Have solved the problem of not being able to load and view video on Foxnews.com. I am using Firefox and if I disable Adblock the video works just fine.

I tried, over and over, to buy an autographed copy of Neil Cavuto’s book and wonder if he knows about the difficulty!

I’m still having this issue and don’t see an answer. below is a link to their help site, but I can’t even get it to load. Like others have said, video works on other sites, just not fox…it stopped about 6 months ago for me. http://www.foxnews.com/video2/player0…

Global Storage Settings

There are six tabs in the Settings manager.

Select the second tab and
Make sure you have the box “Allow third-party flash content to store data on your computer”

This was the fix for me using IE8

Here is what fixed it for me:
(I use XP Pro)
There is a “HOSTS” file in
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS

I removed every line with this in it “revsci.net”.
I have not experimented with which one(s) it was
choking on but it was one of them.

The same thing happened to me with the Safari browser (Mac OS). I started using the Firefox Browser instead, and it can play the Fox News videos, no problem. After a few weeks something changed and Safari was able to play the videos. Maybe one of the Safari updates fixed the problem. If you’re using a Windows OS, maybe the Firefox Browser would work for you. Anyway, good luck!

I solved this problem by deleting all entries in my “hosts” file after #Fox Interactive Media / News Corp.
These were added by Spybot, but I am sure that other ad blocking or anti-malware software does the same thing.

I’m having the same problem. It seems like it’s the choice of Fox News not to show content to Adblock users. I’ll find my news elsewhere as NONE of the other major news sites have this problem.

I suddenly had this problem (Foxnews video not working) for about 1 year. The Foxnews video WOULD play the 10-20 second commercial but NOT THE CONTENT.

Waiting 2-5 minutes would sometimes allow the video to finally play.

POSSIBLE FIX
Today, I disabled the Google toolbar and was surprised to find my Foxnews video now works as it should.

Please post if this works for others who have this problem.

What’s so special about FOX News that we should have to stand on our proverbial heads to watch it anyhow? I’ve 3 PCs and FOX is the only site which won’t play, so, they can bite me!

RE: “My computer will not play the Foxnews.com news videos any longer”
If you find you can watch the news videos using Safari but not IE, try changing your Tracking settings. In internet explorer, go to: TOOLS, TRACKING PROTECTION, and choose DISABLE.

I couldn’t play Fox News videos with Windows 7 64-bit until I took Explorer 8 off a proxy connection. I changed my network connection setting to auto-detect. Fortunately I had a choice (straight DSL with fixed IP address), since I was only using the proxy for when I wanted to be anonymous (no traceable IP address).

6/29/12: Currently as of today (just got my computer back from getting a new screen) so it was out of commission for over a month. I noticed I couldn’t view certain youtube videos, nor on foxnews or even yahoo. Kept getting “you need to install latest version of adobe flash player.” I would uninstall my old version, install the new one, even get a message saying it installed. THEN, still no ability to see the videos. Only a big black box but I could still see the thumbnail for the videos. Anyway, did a google search and found these two options to fix in on an adobe forum. Hoping this will help you all! My issue actually turned out to be the activex filter issues. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/885448 or http://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968 You may have to cut and paste these to get them to work. Hope this is helpful!

Did all that, but to watch Fox News videos I have to either use Firefox or change my connection to direct (automatically detect) instead of proxy script.

I found that with Win 7, all software and updates should be installed using the ‘run as administrator’. You can download and save the installation file to your desktop rather than install it from the Adobe download site. After downloading, go to the installation file you saved, right click on it and choose “Run ad administrator”. This way of installing software and updates has resolved many Win 7 issues for me. I hope it works for you.

Fox News uses the Adobe Flash Player for most of their videos. If you have made the recommended ActiveX settings, try logging in as administrator on your machine, and download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player onto your desktop rather than install the software from the internet. Close your internet browser. Right click on the file and ‘run as administrator’. If this does not return a successful install, immediately review your event viewer found under the Administrative Tools. Review the listing of events and look for any ‘critical’ and ‘error’ events that have occurred in the last hour. You can click on the + to open up the list for more information. Follow the links within the detail of the event. You can also google the issue(s) you find to learn more.

Your problem could also be caused by Firefox. I’ve seen where FF had to be uninstalled and re-installed to resolve other issues caused by a break in their add-ons that FF decided not to support a fix for. If installing as admin does not work with FF, try the same download process but use IE.

You can also use the Help service on the Adobe website.

Best Regards.

I have been unable to connect to fox news from my MacBook, using my wireless network, for 5 days, it continually says the server is busy. However, if I use my husbands PC, my iphone or my ipad it works just fine.

Look for and remove Sendori.exe or any “web browser excellerator” This one piggy backed on another download, watch out for those, it touts excelleration and anti maleware.

I deleted it and was able to see all fox videos again.
