computer help: I want to upgrade my video card. - Help.com

I want to upgrade my video card.

I purchased a new 22″ wide monitor and would like to have a digital video card. I only have a computer with a 300 watt power supply. I don’t do any gaming, but do a lot of digital photo and video work. What would you recommend?

get what i’m getting lol, most new high tech card need bigger power suplies, but since you said that youre not a gamer, i would recomend just going to future shop or best buy and getting one of those 70$ cards lol, but you’d have to make sure that the card has a DVI output,

If you get a new card you should get a new power supply with at least 450 to 500 watts. It makes everything work a lot smoother and doesnt over load the power supply. Hope this helps :-)

essentialy, just read the requirements on the card that you are goign to consider buying… make sure that you meet or exceed the minimum power requirments, or your new card may not work….

I concur with what the folks are saying here,”At least a bigger power supply, 450Watt to 500Watt.” You might want to buy a card that is better suited for DVD/DVI output. This way you would be set up to burn home DVD’s.

ATI is a good brand to get, it always has been and yes, I would concur that you may have to get a bigger power supply.
