I am concerned about the voltage beeing put into my new CPU…

I have an acer aspire t180, 300W power… i wanted to know if i upgraded my CPU from an AMD athlon 64 + 3500 @ 1.392 volts (corevoltage) to something a litle faster -> AMD Athlon 64 x2 +5000 @ 1.250/1.350 volts (corevoltage) or sumthing like that, would i have to change a setting in my Mobo or something, or if there isn’t a soolution, any recomendations for a good CPU from ~150$ @ 1.392 volts???? AND any other info i should know when i am changing proccesors…

Gee, so much brand terms… I know nada about it. Go to a shop which you trust, and say: “I want the best and fastest there is”. That should do.

Are you looking to upgrade to dual core processor X2? if so I dont think that your board will take it unless you already have a dual core installed. Also most of the new dual core processors will be running DDR-2 instead of DDR. My self I only use Intel Processors so thats why I was asking about the X2 before the speed. Hope this helps :-)

I have an Acer Aspire too, and when I had problems with CPU Voltage I downloaded the “EVEREST ULTRA ENGINEER” and started watching the temps.

Finally it was just the cooling paste that needed reput. ;)
