i have windows 98se and IE6 and when i open internet

explorer to get on the internet it says this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.what am i to do?

You could try this first.
1. Click start.
2. Click run
3. type in upper case exacly what you see SFC /RUNNOW you must have a space before the /

This makes windows and internet explorer find any missing files that they need, to run correctly.

Stop using win98. It is completely unsupported by Microsoft and is incredibly insecure. You can reinstall windows but it’s just a matter of time you get more incurable viruses.

It happen all the time in Windows 95,98,Xp. click on the icon to close it and the program you was working will close it normal you may lose any unsave files to that program. Sometime your computer will restart.
