Pull the old one off, put on new one.
If the clips are stuck, stick a flathead screwdriver between the knob and the handle and push (don’t pull you’ll crack the shifter handle). That should make it come off smoothly.

The new one may be attached with screws, if so, you’ll have to drill holes as the manufacturer used snap-on knobs.
