Put it in an account without instant access, if you have to give notice before you spend something your less likely to withdraw it and spend it.

Decide on projected savings. Find out necessary savings a month to achieve it. Multiply that by 1.10-1.20. Reason? Hard times and in case inflation and etc is greater than expected.

Put the money in 401k if possible. Invest the rest in whatever you wish. If you have high earning power, you can choose to invest in more risky investments. If you are pretty poor, figure out how to increase you earning power and put some a fraction of your savings in mutuals funds and stocks.

Any specifics will require more details of your finances and your intentions.

Depends on what you mean by that. In my case, I am a college student so saving money has a whole different meaning for me. I remember I needed to save up money to buy some course books, so I didn’t buy food for a whole week but I managed to scab off my friends!!! You are probably thinking on a much bigger scale though!!!

Really, the best advice here is of disicpline. Put a small amount of money by each time you receive a new one, perhaps even get someone else to keep hold of it and just resist all tempation to touch it. In the end, you’ll have a nice savings account and an attitude to money you can be proud of. Many people fall into the same trap you do.

Good luck. Don’t know your location but I know where I live there’s decent money to be made in bars. If I had the training I’d be working in one too!
