An annoyance on this site.

I may just be crazy, but this really gets to me, you’ll see on a post:
2 replies and 64 views
imigine how much help the person would have got, if only all the people who viewed it, replied to it.

All I ask of you, if you are willing to take the time to read the post, take acouple more seconds to respond to it. Even if your responce isn’t that long, it would be appriciated greatly by the poster.
Thanks :)

The other problem lies in people clicking on the same post twice, or many times, if they exit out and they get notified that it was updated. Maybe they don’t have advice for the particular problem. They could also not care, or be too busy to respond. It’s how life works. But with this site, people care. On other sites, you don’t get too many responses. There will be hundreds of hits and two reviews or responses. Here, it’s 20 views and 5 replies. That’s pretty d*mn good.

You’ve forgotten a few things…some of which have been mentioned already, but let me add my points.

1. View the post and don’t have an answer…leave the post.
2. View the post and figure out there IS no answer. Example. “I need help with homework.” (no other details) Can’t help, so leave the post.
3. Same question that has been seen a thousand times before, refuse to rewrite answer because why should I repost an answer a thousand times when the user refuses to look for the answer in a previous post? Leave post.
4. Someone else answered the question before. Why post the same answer twice? Leave the post.

I could continue…but it could take a while.

Oh, and the most important one…the user who views the post doesn’t WANT to answer the question for what ever reason.

No one is required to answer posts here. It’s all voluntary.

Sometimes you can read a post you might be interested in, or might have something to say, but by the time you are done reading it, and the responses to it, there is nothing more that needs to be said. Or sometimes you can’t think of anything to say.

Even silence can be golden.

And if everyone said something it would be as long as the zombie post, I still get notices for that and I think I only made a brief statment in it, its still lingering on, it must be the longest running post ever.

Each view is counted, that means every time you look at it, every time the poster looks at it and every time someone who has already replied looks at it. So it doesn’t mean 64 people looked and didn’t reply, granted it is a fair indication allot of people did view it and did’nt reply. It’s always been a policy of mine that if I’m gonna bother reading it I may aswell reply.

I reply to the ones I think I can help on. If I’m iffy about it, or I don’t know what to say, what’s the point? Heck, if I don’t know what to say, I could send a totally different message than what I really mean.
But ja, I agree more people could reply sometimes on some topics.

i too, reply to the ones that i think i can help with. im sometimes scared of offending the person in some way or sounding kind of dumb for what i might mention. but on another level, i agree with you. thats why we are here, to help one another.

Your right to a point but sometimes it is better not to say anything if you can’t really help that person or it may be too personal for you to comment on. Sometimes what other people have to say maybe something you are going through also and you just don’t know the answer.

What annoys me are people who only want replies to their posts to make them popular, they do not care what you say as long as you reply to their post.
Let me ask you this, Do you have an answer to every singlepost you read? Because if you do then you are a better person than me. There are some posts that I will read and I honestly don’t know what to say so I can’t reply to it…. So what do you want me to do? Start makeing stuff up so that people feel like they are popular because they have a reply??

I go to the opttion every now and then to read all the posts that say have no replies yet and I try my best to give an answer. For me I would prefer to have 2 replies and 64 views if it means that the replies I do have are of better quality rather than 64 replies frompeople saying “sorry to hear that but can’t help you”

I think these are the only answers to this post…
People simply can’t answer a post they know nothing about so if you want replies or want everyone to reply that views it then I suppose the only thing to do is state thatin your posts title…
But then that would be a waste of time for you and the person relying.

I have to agree with Lazy because if some one has a problem you could make it worse when you think you are helping. It is better to not say anything at all if you don’t know the answer or you don’t know where to steer them. If it is a popularity contest then you have gotten completely away from what this site is for, which is sad.
