Wow you have such delicate hands.
lol basicaly my dad did the casting and hookin it part and I ’snagged’ it witch was freaking hard!! gosh, my arm is prolly gonna hurt tomorrow!! plus it was so freaking cold..my dad say that those fish live to be over 100 years old and get up to about 120lbs…we didnt catch any of the big BIG ones…:( but (sings)I snagged a fish, I snagged a fish(sings) :D
Gar….its a fish… lol
I didnt think they were your hand
just joking
Very cool! You go girl, wrestling that big fish with those big teeth!
huh?
well in the picture I was scared to put my hands on it because my dad could hardly keep it still because it kept moveing and was so slimy and so cold..it actually snapped at my little bro and bit his knee 5 sec before the picture was taken thats why I was laughin
ahhh, i could have joined you guys! :o) ames and i will join you next time! :D and everyone interested. :oD
thats cool looks kind of like a gater
yeah…there is a gater gar lol hold on I’ll put a picture of the gater gar we caught today on here H/O.

that one was just a baby tho…and about 50lbs. my little bro caught that one lol
flipen weerd
looks like a gater without legs lol
thats what i was going to say
did you eat it?
I would have loved to have seen that in action! :O Oh gosh! Look at those teeth - oooo they do look sharp! I guess it seems it could possibly be related to a gator on an evolutionary scale. Whoa!
Yay ~lilies~ If the weather was better here I might just be inspired from Joy’s pic.s to go out fishing!:)
lol nooo you dont eat them…their skells are like armor and plus they live for like 100 years…so there isnt really any reason to eat them..there just awesome to catch :) H/O my dad has a picture of a BIG 7 footer he caght once….I’ll scann it and put it on here its crazy!
ames- my dad told me that its best to go fishin for them when its REALLY cold because they lay on the bottom of the river and what you basicaly do while fishing them you dont use bate, you just get a huge hook, spinnin luar and cast it out into the river and when you feel a little tug, you pull back really fast to try and hook it between the skalles!!..yeah my dad did that part lol
Do those things ever attack humans?
Wow! Just fascinating! I would like to share your pic.s with my brother! ..and your dad’s advice!
my dad said they dont attack humans…but Im still skeptical about ever going back into that river for a swim lol
Yeah, I would be too. Those things look like they could do some damage!
LOL! From taking a look at your photos the idea of a swim in there would put my nerves on edge too! :))
yeeeah its not 7 foot like I said..but its near as big as my dad longer then my I know!!
You just have a spinning reel and a huge hook and you cast it out into the river..then slowly start reeling it in..untill you hit something that you feel move, then you tug!! really hard and if your lucky you hooked one between the scales..then you have to fight the little sucker to the bank, and you cant give it any slak while fighting it or the hook will come loose..
longer then I am I know****
they look so cool though
like something that just escaped from a deep crater of the sea that should never be seen by humans
crazy cool
Hi Joy!
I never even heard about that fish, so I had to check the Wikipedia. It exists only in America, I believe it is related to pikes. You can eat it too ccording to Wiki, just avoid the poisonous eggs (roe). I know that some species, e.g. the Atlantic Parrot fish, has extreamly poisonous eggs but is eadible except for that.
Your catch sounds very nice. Some of the big fish, like Marlin and Sailfish, also gives that challenge with the line. Just a moment’s slack, and they are gone!
I wouldn’t go swimming there either, but that’s because it looks so cold!
It’s funny to catch the big ones! We don’t have very big fish in Swedish lakes and rivers, except for the biggest salmon and an occational old pike. Therefore I never go fishing here. A sea sturgeon can theoretically be here, but I’ll have to go to Russia to be sure of getting one.
Therefore I go fishing only in the tropical waters, because the big fishes are easy to get and I’m not freezing my a** off in the process!
Anyway, my congratulations!
I guess that this was not your last fishing trip!
That is so cool, and thats also a weird looking fish lol.
Thats how we roll in the south.
:)
